Rune was the biggest collaps I've ever seen. Maybe if Baez had turned up his level to God mode, could I understand Rune's collaps. But he killed himself out there. Went from great to disaster. He desperately needs a top notch mental coach.

Fantastic match from Baez! Great balance between incredible defense, dropshot, great moves (he is very fast and move like a cat), ... Good to see a definitely very good and smart clay player from south america like we use to have on the tour! Especially since Schwartzmann is not the player as before, sadly (same feeling for Thiem :( ). I definitely love the fighting spirit, grinta and clay game of Baez!

He has moments of brilliance, but he’s wildly inconsistent on both fronts… Shelton needs to improve on many aspects of his game. His volleys and returns are shaky at times. As a lefty with a killer serve, he should be a bit more dominant. His overall game needs to improve for him to get to QFs and beyond.

One answer: hard court (and grass). Comparable to Mannarino's weird forehand, he redirects the opponent's pace. That doesn't fly so well on clay. Another answer: it's actually not as bad as it looks. Let any college player face Norrie and suddenly his backhand will appear god-like.

Anyway, lots of maturing to do, give him 2-3 years and if it's lucky, maybe the remainder of this year where things will "click" for him. And is it just me or is Rune and Baez's FH very similar? Really visible here what makes top players top players - they have the mental edge and get the wins even though they are not necessariliy playing better or are more 'talented' - if you-d seen the players without knowing who they are, would you say medvedev is the better player or Medjedovic? Based on this match certainly Medjedovic i guess 100%. Same goes for AAA vs de Minaur. Thats what I find most incredible about these top players, but also most notable on any level in tennis - the mentally stronger and less error prone player most often always wins.

I don't understand why you @TennisTV keep showing the same matches in these day highlight as the ones you uploaded as separate videos before. The only new match highlights were Baez vs Rune. Why not put the top seeds in the day highlights video and make separate videos of the other matches. This is just a waste of time ...

Rune needs a consistent team for longer plus he needs to stop with these big promisis, oh i feel well, now i can win French open in 4 weeks. Then beating himself vs Baez in round 3 of Rome. Goffin n his current stage of his career would even have stood a chance. Don´t know if he needs time off tour. Then come back. Lets see if he can surprise in French Open. I hope bc along with few others he got this intensity, talent for insane hitting mixed with skill. Like Carlos to some extent.

Rune and Rublev mental issues strike again,it gets more and more clear that today Sinner and Alcaraz are miles and miles ahead of the others, the next Federer and Nadal of the future and maybe Rune on the side as the next Djokovic since he also have serious issues just like Djokovic back at the start of his career, all and all with not even half of the big 3 achivements of course.

Lost for words.... Runes clay court season is a complete disaster. Theres something seriously wrong with his MENTALITY and STAMINA. -He has the worst shot selection of any top 10 player I've ever seen and makes the most awful decisions. When things doesnt go his way, he almost tanks the whole set like he was fucking Lord Bernard Atomic the Tank Engine himself . -He runs out of gas after less than 1 hour of tennis against sub-par opponents, and loses all mental focus when things doesnt go his way. -He seems unwilling to participate in long rallies and hits careless low percentage shots all over the place, although his ground strokes, technique and raw talent is far superior to most players on tour. HE JUST DOESNT WANT TO GRIND IT OUT. -Theres something seriously wrong with his diet and his physical training, he needs to rethink his approach to diet and training or he will end up as a huge wasted talent. He needs to eat differently, look at how Djokovic changed his endurance by going vegan for example, there must be something in his diet he doesnt respond well to, or hes eating too carbon heavy and runs out of gas. His team needs to experiment with the diet ASAP. -I think he needs to drop some of the muscle mass aswell, as he seems to run out of gas extremely fast and needs HIGHER RALLY TOLERANCE. He can have all the talent in the world (which he does) but if he doesnt fix the before mentioned things, he will surely end up as another Shapo. Please Rune team read this. When hes 'on', he is top 3 material. When hes not, he plays like top 500. Just my 2 cents as one of Runes biggest fans.

I’ll tell you exactly what’s wrong it’s his fh he has no natural wrist lag or torque it is stiff and not very heavy also when you don’t have natural torque you spray balls much more often his stamina and fitness is actually what’s keeping him at a high level his bh is good serve is fine but his fh is the most inconsistent fh in the top 100 by far fh topspin/drive is the most used shot in the mens game without a good one your game will fall far below the level it can be he needs new fh technique
