No, I have never put those things in my clear bag and I travel 3-4 times a year internationally, with multiple flights. Plus, I also do not put the mini samples of eye cream, face cream, etc., in there, because I have forgotten so many times to put those in my clear bag and have never been stopped for that. I do think non-US airports are not as strict.
Mascara and perfume, which I take, need to go in TSA bag too. I don’t use foundation, moisterisers or nail polish which are also liquids. It’s great to have vids like yours to make it all much clearer. 👏

Thanks so much for watching! And yes you’re right. I keep my makeup pretty minimal as well. Most of the makeup I bring is powder based.
Couple of things to add: - makeup sample containers are excellent for ruthless travel decanting. Screw-top pots can carry moisturiser, lipbalm & facewash. Armani’s tiny little glass foundation sample bottles, with the inbuilt dabber, are great for a few days’ worth of perfume. - Shrink your deodorant. I emptied out an old lipstick case, sliced off a portion of stick deodorant and slotted it into the case. Unless you’re going on a long trip it should be more than enough & takes up hardly any room.

Toothpaste and mouthwash tabs are gamechangers for freeing up soace. So happy to discover them for my last trip. Bar lotion was an epic fail. My skin just laughed. I ended up buying regular lotion on my 2nd day.
A great option for those sneaky pimples are pimple patches. They’re clear solid patches therefore you don’t have to put them in your liquids bag ! Plus they work wonders !

I appreciate this as i truly have a "liquids issue". I can pack small but those darn liquids get me every time! I think i can finally do this tho. I had to pick and choose what I really needed, and it was painful (self-inflicted!). Yes. I've been taking Clinique soap bars with me to travel for years. So compact and high quality. It is wonderful. You're the first person I've heard that does that also. I'm not sure how I started, but I used to get the smaller sample size bars when Clinique dealers would run their promotions (to get a bonus cosmetic bag and several samples). I just make sure to let the bar dry out on some type of elevated surface, like over a cup. When the bars are dry, you don't need to put them in any sort of case. For me, the sample size stick deodorants are bad. I must be heavy handed because the bar part always breaks off. So my one full size item is a full size stick deodorant. There really isn't that much more product on the full size ones.
Thank you for the dry shampoo powder idea!!!
Good shit Sis! You are awesome. Downloading this video for future reference
Reusable makeup eraser cloths, bug repellent wipes, SPF powder (both supergoop and colorscience make varieties), hand sanitizer wipes, and makeup removing balms (which are solids) are good options. Coconut oil will stay in a solid state if it’s not warm out, too, and can make a good moisturizer, makeup remover, or shave balm. Also any prescriptions can go in a 2nd bag (so contact lenses, prescription retinol creams, etc. don’t have to count against you 3-1-1 limit). Carry on travel is also when I go through all the Sephora samples that I seem to accumulate throughout the year 😂

It’s great that you haven’t had a problem. But the bags you use/mention are too large. The medium is 1.8 quarts and the large is 3.3 quarts.
OMG of all the other KZreadrs who talk about TSA and all that they talk about the balls but you’re the first one who’s ever showed me the silicone ones which I actually just got two of them for my upcoming trip so I’m leaving on at the end of the week is the first KZreadr, who specializes in flying in trip travel who’s actually shot the silicone ones which is after the one that I have I have the pink and purple one myself and when I was looking to head up to different types they only ever shown the hard plastic ones and when I went to get mine there to do it harder past scores one really hard, one and one that was hard, but was still too hard for me to do mobility issues. Find Moscow issues, but the silicone ones are Assi also good for those people who might have dexterity issues like myself, the easier to squeeze that in the hard plastic ones I am now going to buy the silicone ones as a Main, who travels a lot, or at least tries to travel want to travel as much as possible. Well they have said to see it because it slowly going blind, but also has dexterity issues, and you can have Paul squeeze in the ones that are made out of horror plastic. Those so-called ones awesome they fit into TSA regulations the cheap enough. It seem like they will travel well and hold up in the easy for people who might have a hard time with dexterity like myself I think in the Constance out of them once in. so thank you for throwing that deposit kind of not the one time that they had a silicone ones I am now swing by the silicone ones myself
Powder toothpaste is awesome to substitute with as well and saturated cotton rounds with your micellar water or toner in a snack size ziplock baggie doesn't count against your liquids.

Great video. You explained the 3-1-1 very well. It’s funny though only US cares about these things but not other countries.
Thanks for sharing! Love a few of your recs, definitely gotta look into solid lotion! Btw-your bag is waaayy bigger than 1-quart, while there are many lenient TSA agents, you don’t want to run into the “wrong” agent with that bag full of your liquids.
Hackety hack hack, take a sandwich size Ziploc bag, or snack size if you need less. Fill it up with cotton rounds then pour in your micellar water until saturated. Make sure all cotton rounds are covered well, but no excess. Zip her up, squeeze out any air and put in your carry on with other stuff NOT your 3-1-1, honest I did 2 months worth of them, which lasted me 5 months, because hey, I wasn't wearing make-up everyday. They didn't go bad, or get stale, just make sure to zip tight after each use.😀❤️😀 I've done this for much shorter trips as well. As long as they soak up your micellar or equivalent in your backpack, separately looks and, kind of?????? is a solid. More room for other stuff. When you squeeze it down, straight up takes no space in your non 3-1-1 backpack. I need the extra room for sensitive skin sunscreen which I decant into tsa approved bottles as you suggested.😀😀😀❤️😀😀😀

I travel a lot and I have never used the 3-1-1 system. I have a zip up canvas pouch I use. I never had any problems. I have gotten my carry on pulled to the side for checks twice. Once, I got Cheese from Belgium, and the second time Leeches in NYC. Never for toiletries. Didn’t get my purchases taken away either. I actually brought a tub of body cream from Colombia that I was sure would be confiscated, but it didn’t. I don’t thinks is as strict as people think. I’m actually in Spain right now. I travelled Denver to Italy with that sort of clear, zippered bag. No problem with TSA here or whatever they call it over there. I was super impressed with flying with carry on only for a week. They got me coming back because of the weight. It was all okay because I didn’t care if they lost it coming home.

I do have a hack for peanut / almond butter. I like to eat mine scooping it up with apple slices. But that won't fly, because it's a "paste". So I cut up the apple slices onto chunks, mix my nut butter with the chunks and put it all in a small rigid plastic food container. It flies!!!
Have you ever tried a tooth powder in place of toothpaste? So much easier for travel. Just shake powder onto a damp toothbrush and brush away.

That suggestion took me back many decades when powder tooth cleaners were very common.
Although the rules are pretty much the same in other countries, be aware that TSA pre-check only applies to the US. Comes from experience of quite a few American passengers holding up the security line because they don't separate liquids etc. Also nowhere else in the world uses imperial units but although they quote the requirements in metric, it is effectively the same.
Haha nice tip on "share with a partner"! Luckily my partner is pretty chill, so I tend to toss the shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste; anything we'll both use in his, then use mine for the rest. 2 quick tips: 1-if you have TSA Pre-check then you don’t have to worry too much about where you put your liquid bag since you don’t usually have to take it out. 2-if you have small children with you, you can bring extra liquids: water, yogurt, milk, apple sauce, etc. I will just go through extra screening.

Can u pack small nail clippers in the toiletry bag ?

Thanks, so great tips & hackes :). I'd just like to know where do you keep your fragrance?

TSA regulations for a liquids bag dimensions state: 6"x9". The bag you recommend (which I really like) comes in a 2-pack. One is too small: 7.9"x5.5", and the other is too large: 9.6"x6.5".
@awaytogether
Жыл бұрын
Hi there, the TSA’s regulation is 1 quart. 6x9 is an approximated rule of thumb. You should have no issues with the larger of the two in that set. From the TSA “As long as the toiletry bag is the approximate dimensions of a quart-sized bag (6″ x 9″), you’ll be good to go through the checkpoint.” I found this article helpful: travelinglight.com/quart-size-bag/
@violas.86
Жыл бұрын
@@awaytogether officially it is still too big as 6x9 is for a flat bag. Once you add the depth of this type bag they are easily 1.5 times the size actually allowed. That being said it will often depend on the people/countries/airports. In our country we approach more as 10x100ml. So obviously that would require a larger bag. 🤷🏻♀️ It does get confusing at times.
What is your take on supplements? I like to take quite a few vitamin supplements with me and I’m worried about how to pack them. Can I just put them in small baggies and label them?
Do you have the rechargeable toothbrush or the one with a battery? Thanks!
I thought chapstick counted as a non-solid. This is good to know. I have been putting things like that in too and in the UK I only have a ziplock bag to work with. 1 quart is a little bigger than our 1 litre allowance. It may not be a massive difference, but when you're trying to squeeze as many liquids as possible in, it makes a difference.

for makeup/foundation, will the cream formulations that are in palettes (like Mob Beauty's foundation) be excluded from this liquids rule?
You’re mistaken about food having to go in the liquids bag. Only liquid foods and items such as peanut butter need to be in the liquids bag. Snacks, sandwiches, and other food items only need to be in a separate bag, but not the liquids bag.
