During the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, TSRTC MD Sajjanar announced that proposals have been sent to the government to fill 3,000 job vacancies in the corporation. He stated that this recruitment is aimed at addressing the staff shortage in buses. Once the government approves, the recruitment process will commence immediately.
Additionally, he mentioned the success of the Mahalakshmi scheme, which offers free bus tickets to women. Before the scheme, around 4.5 million people traveled daily, but now, this number has increased to 5.5 million.
The MD also revealed plans to purchase 2,000 diesel buses and 990 electric buses soon.
TSRTC had initially proposed to the government to hire 8,000 drivers and conductors. However, due to financial department constraints, the proposal was revised to 3,000 positions. This revised proposal includes 2,000 drivers and 1,000 other staff members such as shramiks and depot managers. Once the Chief Minister gives the green light, the Police Recruitment Board will handle the recruitment process for these 3,000 TSRTC vacancies.
