The reason why the first candy you made taste like snickers is because the dates have a caramel like flavor and the peanut butter butter which is the same as peanuts in the snickers give it that nutty flavor

There's a small business by my house that's been around forever and thats basically all they sell. Ham BBQ Sammies, but they put a slaw on the top and it is sssssoooooooooo good!!! Not like coleslaw, it's more of a Chow chow I would think, maybe kind of like a pepper slaw?

True Pittsburgh ham bbq recipe is..... 3 lbs. chipped Isaly's chopped ham, 2 12 oz bottles of Heinz chili sauce and 1 cup brown sugar. Heat sauce and brown sugar until sugar is dissolved, add ham, stir, heat, simmer, serve on round rolls. Some add a little pickle relish, but not needed. 😋

I'm going to try BOTH Recipes!!! I've heard of the Date/Snickers Bar. But I'm not much of a chocolate kind of girl. So instead of putting the whole Date in the chocolate, I'm just going to "DRIZZLE" IT on Top !!! Now for the Ham BBQ Sandwich I'm a bit confused. The ham that YOU USED is what we up in Michigan call "SHAVED" HAM. Chipped Ham is more Chunky Pieces. Which should I use?😮 I just went grocery shopping this morning, now I'll have to go back in the morning! I HATE grocery shopping when it's crowded so I try to go ard 8am !!!

Growing up "stuffed dates" were a Christmas treat! Pitted dates weren't as common then as they are now, so we would push the pit out from one end. Then just stuff a pecan half in from the end and then roll them in powdered sugar. So simple but So good!

  • @hannakinn

I love a candy that's similar, the dates are put into a food processor and ground up into a sticky paste then pressed into a pan that's lined with tinfoil or cling wrap and buttered, you mark out squares and push a nut down into each square, you then cut the squares, you want them to be sticky, coat the sticky date squares in sweetened shredded coconut on all sides. OMG it's so yummy! I bet those would be good covered or drizzled with chocolate. Those and Turkish Delights are 2 of my favorite home made candies. Turkish Delights are so easy and so much better than gummies. They may be the original gummies, lol.

Hey Sweet Brooke, A Date is the name of the fruit. It is just dried out like a raisin. They are from the Middle East. You know where Aladdin and His Magic lamp comes from. LOL!!! I thought that was the cutest description of where dates originate from. They have been around for thousands of Years as Europeans have been trading with that region for spices ever since they first discovered spices were there. Anyway, I do want to try that “Mock Snickers Candy Bar.” It does seem much more healthy than the actual candy bar. Thank You for trying these for Us! I am going to head to My Butcher or Deli counter and buy some chipped ham. Those sandwiches looked DELICIOUS!!! I hope that You All have a WONDERFUL WEEK! GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!!! LOVE AND PEACE SENT TO YOU ALL. ✝️🙏🏽😊👍🏼❤️👋🏼

I love watching cooking shows from various parts of the U.S. As a born & raised Southern Californian, it seems so strange that a grown up had never tried dates. Now that you've tried them in a confection, try them plain. That's how I like them best. If you just want a taste of something sweet, they're great. By the same token, I've never heard the term "chipped ham." Next time I go grocery shopping, I'm going to see if the deli section has it. Keep up the good work. I love your videos and seeing your sweet family.

I love dates. Snickers bars have caramel in them, so I’m wondering if the date takes place of that. Hmmm. I’m gonna have to try this one.
