Whether this was staged or not, I worked security one year for hillbilly jam. Mark, Jeff and Lance were there selling merch out of a camper. I met Jeff and Lance, got a t-shirt signed but for the life of me couldn’t find mark anywhere. Then, as I was directing traffic, I saw him handing out mason jars in exchange for cash out the back of the camper. I assure you, he is a real moonshiner whether the show is real or not.

To the people on this thread, who are commenting about the accents of the moonshiners. . . They might need a translator to understand you. I've lived in five of the United States, and people speak differently in a lot of areas of the US. I've lived in the North, Midwest and South. There were some people in the South, who considered, and would call me a " Yankee ", because, I had lived in the North ; and, some people in the Midwest, and North, who would call me a " hillbilly", because, I had lived in the South. . . I don't understand why there are people who like being divisive, and so judgemental . . . I'm proud of my Northern, and Southern heritage. I've learned things, and had experiences I wouldn't have, had I not lived in different parts of the United States.

Deborah 5122 I’ve travelled around the US and noticed how much the accents vary a lot. It’s one thing that makes your country so diverse. In Australia, where I come from, you can travel all over the damn country, which is nearly as big as the USA, and you don’t notice the accent change one bit. There maybe some words that are used in some states that are different, but the accent is the same all over. Pretty boring really compared to the good ole USA.

I had a gallon of likker from popcorn because it happened that a guy my dad was in the service with was friends with him. To this day I haven't had anything smoother. That crap tim smith sells in the store tastes like rubbing alcohol comparatively. Pretty much every "moonshine" in the store just tastes like vodka to me. There was so much fruitiness from the real stuff you didn't need to mix it. Dad and I spent the next couple weeks after his cancer diagnosis sipping a little bit of that gallon until it was gone. I haven't thought about it in a long time, glad these got into my feed.

  • @cameronmillspaugh1601

That’s because there’s so many regulations on consumer grade alcohol, if you took homemade moonshine and tried to pass it through the FDA it wouldn’t pass, you just can’t get that real moonshine taste from the liquor store it won’t happen, Tim smith probably makes damn good moonshine he just can’t sell it in the stores

@@cameronmillspaugh1601you can there's just no money in it. If you want a good corn liquor that's legal and easy to get that gives you an idea what a good mixed grain shine would taste like, Buffalo Trace white dog is pretty solid Problem is with the legal market is they are all aiming at the sub 20$ a jar/bottle market, the problem is to do that and pay licensing and tax you need to run low corn, high sugar and do it in bulk.

Living in an area, populated by people like this, isn't as much fun as it might seem. Their blatant disregard for the law and public safety often includes a disposition towards personal violence."Good old boys" they ain't.

It's illegal because there is no quality control over the stuff produced. In times past people have died over bad batches of the creature. Plus...the gvmt loses out on the taxes that could be enforced and The stuff is just too strong for most people. Makes ya do things that you would never ever think to do!

Moonshine itself is not technically illegal it's the process of making "true" moonshine which is usually done without the proper licensing and certified equipment that's illegal. You can actually buy moonshine in liquor stores and bars however it's technically not true moonshine because well it wasn't made illegally under the moon.

It's not illegal to give directions. That cop's a good ole boy. Which means he follows his own rules to begin with. Some of them are the nicest people you'll ever know. Others are pricks that harrass the shit out of people they don't like.
