Last October, I found a red-tailed hawk lying in the middle of the road near where I work. It had a broken wing; I thought it had been hit by a car. The circumstances were the same; people just kept driving by. So, I stopped, blocking a lane of traffic, wrapped the hawk up in my jacket, and took him to a wildlife rehabilitation center. It turned out this poor bird had been shot. For two months, the vets tried multiple surgeries and therapies. But, ultimately, the hawk's injuries were just too severe, and the vets had to euthanize him. It was heartbreaking, but at least I knew this hawk had the best possible chance, and he died warm and safe amongst qualified vets. I applaud you both, Stoyan and Dessi, for the love and care you provide for the animals you find. Merry Christmas to you both, and to all those who take the time to try to save an animal's life. 🎄
