    Hi Schaaf, Body position question: At what speeds do you go from "leaning the bike and body upright" to "Body and bike in one line" to "leaning into the corner" on average? I find myself doing #1 way into 40-50kph when i'm not thinking, but it doesn't feel very good. Would you recommend i learn to lean more?

  • @Schaaf

    @Schaaf

    7 жыл бұрын

    I understand why people always ask this but I still can't give a satisfactory answer because: for my riding it doesn't matter. The kind of speeds I ride on the road work with any riding style. I just ride the way I want to at any given moment :) It's far more important to try to get sensibility for what your bike and your tires are doing at any given moment. Learning to "read" tarmac for instance is very important for road survival too. Always feel free to further ask to if you want to know anything specific!

    Thanks for another nice video! I could be wrong in this R case, but I don't think you can disengage combined brake system, the front brake will aways affect the rear which is kinda okish. On some bikes is much worse. (e.g. on Varadero the rear brake affects the front)

    Did you feel like this bike had less footpeg ground clearance than the f800r? Also, does this bike have a similar riding position as the f800r, or slightly more upright?

  • @Schaaf

    @Schaaf

    7 жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure because the R1200R had feelers/blobs underneath its pegs. I stopped leaning when they started scraping. On the F800R there weren't any and in my short 15 minutes I had with it I never touched down with the pegs. But, more importantly, in my opinion ground clearance is no real issue on both bikes. For me the seating position was slightly more relaxed on the R1200R. But the f800r still feels very comfortable too.

    Might be linked to the fact that with the 1st of january 2016 alleuropean motorbike types (so, all issued type approvals starting from that day) had to comply to Euro 4 emission standards (and sadly also noise emissions) - calculating with the one year of compliance shift phase,your bike being a 2017 make (at least I assume) must be compliant to Euro 4 regulations since all newly registered vehicles must comply to the regulation exactly one year after the release of compliance rules for new types (see type approval above). Hope you are not confused and the question is answered :)

    Hallo Schaaf, wie immer geil gefahren und ordentlich das Bike gequält! Das ABS hinten kommt m.E. deshalb so früh, weil Du wahrscheinlich die vordere und hintere Bremse benutzt. Da die vordere auch gleichzeitig hinten bremst, ankert die Maschine richtig heftig, wenn Du hinten noch zusätzlich bremst - aber ist natürlich nur eine Vermutung... Ich fahre die RS und habe mir abgewöhnt, die Fussbremse zu nehmen... Allen schöne Weihnachten und kommt gut in die nächste Saison!

  • @Schaaf

    @Schaaf

    7 жыл бұрын

    Danke dir!! Dein Ansatz macht Sinn, ist aber falsch, und deswegen reg' ich mich ja so furchtbar über's ABS auf. ;) Ich habe ebenso wenig die Hinterradbremse verwendet. Aber dem Motorrad scheinbar "gefühlt" vorne zu stark am Hebel gezogen... Ich kann mir das nur so erklären, dass die Hinterradbremse auch je nach "Bremsgrad" der Vorderbremse unterschiedlich stark mitgebremst wird. Ja, ich bremse sicherlich härter als der Durchschnitt. Aber ich bin auf nem Bike ohne ABS groß geworden. Deswegen hab' ich ein ganz gutes Gespür dafür, welche Bremskraft tatsächlich möglich ist, bevor das Rad blockiert. Und auf gewöhnlichem italienischen Asphalt muss da meiner Meinung nach noch ein bisschen mehr gehen.

    Hey Schaaf, this doesn't sound like ABS kicking in to me - naturally I understand feel far outweighs what I can see and hear from your video so I could be entirely wrong :)!. It sounds like you're shifting into first (occassionally 2nd) at far too high revs and overloading the rear wheel causing it to lock up (no offence intended!). Did this ever occur in 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear under heavy breaking with no gear changes? Maybe I just can't see the ABS/Traction light flashing like crazy. I concur with the other comment that the dash looks horrible haha - how did you find it in person? Love the videos and particularly the sound on this one. Keep it up.

  • @Schaaf

    @Schaaf

    7 жыл бұрын

    It was the ABS. The dash is stupid. The revs are hard to read. They should put the revs on the big analog instrument, not the speed.

    Moin Schaaf! Geiles Video, wie immer! Hoffe, dir geht's wieder gut! Auch wenn ich mich nur unter Suizidabsicht mit dir duellieren würde, Anmerkung: ich glaub, auf der Bremse verwechselst du da was. Mit Kardan die Gänge runtersteppen brauch Gewöhung, das ABS blockiert das Hinterrad sicher nicht - würd auch keinen Sinn machen, oder? Grüße aus Bochum, bis demnächst!

    nein, es blockiert das Hinterrad nicht, aber ABS greift hinten ein, wenn man vorne enorm stark bremst. Ich halte nichts von kombinierten Bremssystemen. Wozu gibt es zwei verschiedene Hebel für die zwei verschiedenen Bremsen, wenn man sie erst recht zusammenhängt.

    Hallo Schaaf, dieses Verb-ABS an der R 1200 R LC ist genial abgestimmt, sofern man NUR den Handbremshebel zieht. Dann ankert das Teil referenzverdächtig. Betätigt man aber gleichzeitig und gewohnheitsmäßig die HR-Bremse mit, kommt die Regelanlage leicht "außer" Tritt, aus der Balance, weil plötzlich hinten zuviel Bremsdruck ist und der Bremsdruck nun vorne und hinten kurzfristig reduziert wird. Vlt. würden max. 5% aller Fahrer "differenziert" besser bremsen als wie in dieser Weise "verbunden". Und für langsame Ecken und Kehren/Wenden kann man ja auch NUR hinten bremsen. Alles Gute "Alder" auch für 2018 und mehr.....

    Hab gestern einen Unfall gehabt. Bin mit Enduroreifen über eine Brücke gefahren (eisig). Ca 35 kmh und plötzlich bleibt der vor mir stehen. Ich hab unabsichtlich in dem schockmoment die vorderbremse benutzt und dann schön in den vor mir stehenden sprinter (merzedes) hinten rein geslided. Hab mein knöchel verletzt und konnte somit mein motorrad nicht aufheben. Dann kommt so irgend ein typ aus dem auto und schreit mich an „schieb das ding weg" usw. #menschheit . Bin 15 jahre alt und hab den am führerschein, es war mein erster unfall und ich fahre eine Aprilia rx 70

    U have to learn use the bmw combine brake system dont use the rearbrake at all!! The handbrake do it for you! When you want use only rearbrake then you go for only footbrake.

    Spirited riding but be carefull. There must be something wrong with your bike. My 2017 R1200GS never does that unless I do touch the rearbrake. I do suggest you to get it fixed.
