Trying To Make Sense Of The Toyota Mark II

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We have two new members of the family and need your help making sense of which is which. We also can't decide if we should keep one (and which one) or keep both! Help us choose! Leave your preference in the comments below and tell us why!
Update: Alex discovered the Mark II is also available with the 1JZ-GTE.

    Only thin I can add is that they can be seperated even more in their trim level. They all came with a 1G-FE engine (2.0L NA i6) which is the GX series. That is the lowest trim. The JZX90s were either the 1JZ-GE (NA) or the 1JZ-GTE (turbo). And I know atleast in the 100 line the JZX105 is the 4wd.

  • @BurnoutLS18
    @BurnoutLS182 жыл бұрын

    There are 3 JZX90 variants: 1. Mark II 2. Chaser 3. Cresta All 3 were offered in Tourer V trim with the 1JZ-GTE and R154 manual. The J in JZX implies a 1JZ engine, available in either 1JZ-GE (Tourer S) or 1JZ-GTE (Tourer V) For non-JZ variants, the chassis code was GX-90 which came with a 1G-FE motor. Trim level aside, they are all mechanically identical and were optioned the same, the Cresta/Chaser/Mark II were all essentially reskin variants of the same car.

    There was also the Tourer S in addition to the Tourer V. The Tourer S was NA, the Tourer V was twin turbo. Both could have a manual, or auto. When I lived in Japan from 09-11, I had 2 90 Mark II's, a Tourer S and a Tourer V. Anything that was removed off the V, ended up on the S. Even the original twin turbos and manifolds, made their way onto the S. I wanna say it was some factory stitch welding or similar and some other chassis mods that made the Tourer S and V special, IIRC. My V was a beater compared to the S. Just beaten up body panels, dents, and minor damage all over. The S was nearly brand new when I got it. The S also had an air purifier mounted in the rear deck for whatever reason. I smoked at the time, and whenever it was on, you could smoke and watch the smoke being slowed pulled to the back deck.

    Not only did they look like 90s camrys/es300s of the time, they also were nearly identical in size. overall length was only an inch or two shorter than usdm gen 3/4 camrys. And that was mostly just because jdm bumpers can be smaller/shorter than US bumpers. width is also similar, and they are just a hair lower, as is slightly noticeable in some models are a tiny bit more low slung looking.

    @@JustDriven basically. The X line came in a couple variants You guys own the X90s. These were distuingishable in the following 1. Mark II If you dig into the history, this is the original stemming from the Cressida Mark 2. It came in the following variants: Grande: GX90. 1G-FE 2L NA i6 Auto Grande 2.5: JZX90 1JZ-GE 2.5L NA i6 Auto Tourer S: JZX90 1JZ-GE Auto or Manual Tourer V: JZX90 1JZ-GTE 2.5l TT Auto or Manual Aka the Shield (look at the badge logo) 2. Chaser The meant to be sportier version. The codes are the same for the Chaser as for the Mark II. Avante: GX90 Avante 2.5: JZX100 NA Tourer S: JZX100 NA Auto or Manual Tourer V: JZX100 Turbo Auto or Manual Aka the Bow and Arrow (badge logo) 3. Cresta Again the same deal, but slight body differences. Super Salloon: GX90 Super Salloon 2.5: JZX100 NA Tourer S: JZX100 NA Auto or Manual Tourer V: JZX100 Turbo Auto or Manual Aka the Helmet (badge logo) All the Tourers came with a body kit (lip kit consisting of splitter, sideskirts and rear lip and sometimes a trunk spoiler) So they All came with either a NA or Twin Turbo version, the Mark 2 and Chaser are the most popular especially in the JZX100 line (the last generation for all 3 cars, only the Mark II got a JZX110) All of these also had a variant coming with 4wd. The JZX100 models also came with the VVT-i version of the 1JZ-G(T)E and the X90's had the non-VVT-i engines. Above these "nobles" stands the Toyota Crown, which before 2002 (I believe) also had the 1JZ engine. There was also a run of the X100 of these vehicles (including the crown) which had the 2JZ-GE engine (the NA Supra A80 engine), recognizable by the 3.0 badge on the trunk (since the 2JZ is a 3.0L i6)
