All I know on the hard bodies: They were designed in California ( that's what I heard years ago) and engine was a 2.4 or called the Z24. And I belive they had 8 spark plugs if I remember from my machine shop days years ago. And I like the yee without the beauty rings personally. Looks like rubber bands without the bling bling and it will make a homies arm swing swing 😎👍

Since you frequently do walk-arounds in salvage yards, here's an idea for a fuel tank for the Yee Hawl. See if you can find a LPG tank that is past it's best-before date. Purge it and add a filler spout to the top as it lays on its side and a fuel outlet on the end near the bottom. They usually have a bracket to hold the tank in place so grab that, as well. Problem solved. 👍😁

1986.5 was the first year of the hardbody. I had the 2WD long bed XE version, and it had a "heavy duty" decal on the tailgate. It was a 3.0L V6 with manual tranny. Bought it from a coworker in 1997. One of my friends came over on a Saturday, and we lowered it. Cranked the torsion bars down, removed the bump stops in the front. Pulled a leaf, 4 inches of block, and a set of air shocks in the rear. Then i put a set of chrome pathfinder's on it. What did we do that night? Went cruising, of course! LOL! Dang, i miss that truck. That longbed looked sweet.

The technical name for the hard body is called d21. They come with a 2.4 l 4 cylinder (KA24) and a 3.0 l V6 (VG30) they made them from 1986 to 1997. You should really get one they are actually really fun and reliable trucks I miss mine.

@8:00min; In my opinion, the 3 "weights" on the drums are to avoid resonance frequencies. two shoes (2 points of contact), and 3 weights/asperities, or whatever... 2 vs 3... the best recipe for never falling on resonance (brake noise)... Always nice to watch your vids.

I love my 97 Splash Ranger but get nostalgic for my original 82 Courier long bed when I see your box truck menagerie. Hint from Michigan: you could run 2 heaters it you put them together on the hump. Use 2 of the 4 screw holes for each. I believe I made the fan run backwards on the one facing reverse...can't swear to it but it was warm enough the windows didn't freeze up and, most important, my mother was toasty on ski/snowboard trips. I do remember that I used flush tees to run the cores in series. That long bed ruined me for life.

I learned more than I ever wanted to about the old Hardbodies when I built one on my channel... The D21 was built from 1986-1997. They had a 2.4 or a 3.0... The early 2.4's were called the Z24 (4 cylinders with 8 spark plugs). In 1989 the 2.4 went to a more traditional 4 plug set up. The 3.0 was a V6... Fun fact, I had to bore the wheels on my Hardbody to fit them on too.

The Nissan Hardbody truck was the marketing name for the truck officially called the Nissan truck built from 1986 to 1997. It got it's name because it had a double wall bed as compared to some other small trucks that were single wall. The chassis code was D21 and it had three engines in the US market: The first one was the NAPS-Z. it was a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder with 8 spark plugs. This was an 8 valve engine. It was an evolution of the Datsun L series that, like a good Pokemon, later evolved. It became the KA24E. KA is the engine series, 24 is the 2.4 liter displacement and E stands for Electronic fuel injection. This engine was SOHC with 3 valves per cylinder and 4 spark plugs. It was also available with a V6, the VG30E or a 3 liter EFi engine. The transmission is a variant of the FS5W71 that came out originally in the 260 Z around 1976. The rear axle would be the H190, with 190 meaning it has a 190mm ring gear. The H means it is an open diff, but a posi was available on the SE V6 and would use an R instead of an H in it's model number (I believe they were built by Fuju Heavy Industries but am not sure.). Now the D21 was replaced with the first Nissan truck with a name: The D22 Frontier, or Navarra in some other markets. It has basically the same chassis but with the larger front brakes and dual piston calipers of the first generation Pathfinder. This came with the KA24DE, with the D meaning it is a DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder. This is the final evolution of the Datsun L series (itself a mish-mash of engineering from Austin, Prince and Mercedes Benz) before Renault/Nissan introduced the horrible QR25DE engine with the D40 Frontier. The D22 trucks were also available with the VG33E and VG33ER V6 engines- the R stands for supeRcharged. The V6 versions had the H230 or R230 axle and I forget what transmission as I have never had one.

Love the 18’s on the Yee Haw without the beauty rings. I think the holes match the bumper dimple dies very well. Keep up the great work Puddin!

Hello Puddin Definetly beauty rings off. Unit looks good with the larger rims & tires. Try a tank from a 1965 - 1970 full sized chevy they are reasonably flat tanks with center filler opening that should fit between frame rails. Keep on trucking and don't let that arm get too tired 👍

I think those 18" are growers not show-ers. It looks weird now but I think you'll end up loving them. I'm already getting used to them after a couple minutes and it looks sick.

Wow...those wheels are REAL white and the hubcaps look huge. I like the smaller wheels that aren't so bright. But that's just me. Nice job on the old U-Haul trucks

Well puddin, I think they look like wagon wheels. I’m not sure why but try them on the sausage waggon! Oh yeah and I do like them better without the beauty rings.

Lmao 🤣 the issue here is “ gas tank on the other hand doing a 120 down the interstate hanging low of the ground and u catch a rock with it 1.) your probably going to lose your fuel 2.) your liable to spark something we might blow this sumbitc* clean out of pot county..” Gotta love puddings wise words of wisdom.

Hey bro I really like the new wheels on the yeehawl! Also agree with the NO beauty rings just center caps..Keep up the great work I’ve been following you since the beginning and I like the way you go about your projects. My father owed his own business fabricating race car chassis and being around that my whole life taught me a lot. Unfortunately my father passed away unexpectedly this past January from cancer so I never really got to do much with him. Watching you guys gives me the motivation to get out in the shop and make sure his projects get finished some time soon. We have a few things that would be right up your alley! Thanks again and love the videos!

That white color was called Wimbledon White I don't know if you can still get it or not. As a 12-year employee of U-Haul I may have driven those mini Movers at some point. Even if it was just to park them. But but after they took them out of the rental market I had one assigned to me at my Center.

1986 1/2 thru 1997. 2.4l 4cyl- 86-1/2-89 z-24 8 valve, dual plug per cylinder.(Naps or Nissan anti pollution system). 1990- 97 Ka24.. ( more powerful 12 valve as well as direct port injection). 3.0l v6 same engine, but improved from throttle body to port injection starting in 1990. Loved the hardbody! Owned several and wish I still had at least 1 of them! Great trucks. :-)
