I would've been able to fix it. The problem seemed to be the spinning piece being too tight on.

Might be a split gear inside preventing it to move when put back together properly.

Anything and everything that uses small plastic motor shaft gears can and will inevitably split. Some common examples of this include the following: Roboquad's legs, iZ's eyes, the neck and shooting mechanism in every single disc-shooting robot ever (including Son Of a Bucket, ofc), the walking mech in Turbo Fighters and similar, most other old animatronics in general, and much much more.
