Hi Brandi. I loved learning this along with you. I just had a few questions. Have you tried it on a painted surface with a napkin? Have you tried it with burlap? How about with tissue paper? I loved that napkin! Did you know if you keep your cling wrap in the fridge it won't stick to itself? Thank you for your time, I appreciate you.

I keep a damp old dish towel next to my iron and when it gets gunky I rub it over the wet towel and the gunk comes right off. I work with Heat n Bond a lot but it’s expensive. I tried fusing gift wrap and tissue with plastic wrap on cardstock but I couldn’t get either to stick but you have inspired me to try again. I use my heat resistant silicone mat under my project and parchment paper over the top when I use Heat n Bond and I have a lot less mess. The silicone mat is cleanable, the parchment can be to a point before it’s no good anymore. I have a thought I want to try… freezer paper bonds to paper and to some thin fabrics. It’s a great stabilizer, I wonder if I back them with freezer paper then set with plastic wrap would it work better and hold long term. Hmmm, will have to experiment with that when I get time. Love your videos, you save us effort and you inspire me!

Thanks for this tutorial. I may try this method. I want to make a key hanger and this looks like a good way to make one. I doubt that you are going to take a pic and dig into your piece, so I would go ahead and seal it if that's the look your going for. Well the others pealed so easily that I don't think I'll be using cling wrap with paper or fabric, however the napkin stuck really good. I may try this method.

Idk if they always help, ( I am so glad this one did) but at least you can save time seeing someone else do it step by step and not filtering any results out. This helps (in my opinion) you make decisions for yourself on if you want to waste your time trying it or not, ya know?? I have botched way to many projects, especially home demolition or renovations, because I did not have accurate step by step information. It goes a lot way knowing exactly what your getting in to, or knowing if something didn't work for one person you can try another method! Saves time and especially money.

Hey Brandi.... Im new to you and now a subscriber! ;) I was curious about a spray sealant, shlack, or gloss???? Would that do the same thing as the decopage???? Also have you retried the fabric with the decopage and parchment paper yet to see if it peeled as well? Personally, I dont think it would make a difference but I'd love to see your new tutorial on the new questions that this video brought up.... Keep up the excellent job of keeping us informed! I love your videos! :)

Hey you! Welcome!! Sorry so late getting to your questions. I try my beat to get through as many comments as I can a day! So I have decoupage a piece and used spray paint sealer. If that's what you mean over the piece. Yes and on furniture too. I have videos of it around here somewhere...lol Napkins, paper all works the same just make sure you let the decoupage piece cure 48 hours first. Specially if it's a table top or something! And, yes parchment paper protects mostly. It don't matter much in this case for the cling wrap it was the heat. Iron isn't hot enough

If you have a printer! You can tape (gingerly) I usually use double sided tape on to a regular piece of paper and tape the tissue paper cut to size on the regular paper. And, print the image. I personally have the best results with rice paper. Hope this helps!

What if you use parchment paper over it. Then the plastic wrap won’t stick.

Thanks for sharing. I've had a love-hate relationship with modge Podge, particularly with scrapbook paper. I get so many bubbles. It seems that I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Does anybody have any suggestions?

  • @Linda211

How long after you put the sealer on did you peel it off? Was it 24 hours, or just a couple of hours? I'm just wondering if the results would have been different if you let it cure for a day or so before attempting to peel it off? I was going to mention the parchment paper to protect your iron, but a lot of other viewers did. I definitely wouldn't use wax paper. I hope you do another one of these with some of the suggestions from the comments. I feel like we were in the lab experimenting tonight, Brandi. I love these videos. ♥

It was about an hour! I usually do an hour for filming with time unless Its something serious then i wait 24 hrs and I usually say that in the video. If i don't im like YOU let it dry..lol but for this is was about an hour.. and you might be right! We are going to test out more theories in March Linda! I still have so many questions and ideas about this. March I am doing subscriber hacks so we will see! Thank you my sweet friend!

Seems like the easiest way is to iron the center then trim the outside

I use that method and I did seal it, but I spray painted with a sealer. I was too afraid to wet it. Am I glad I didn’t use a water based sealer. Question; who in hell is going to try and pull it off?😖 I love those tags. Thanks for the inspiration!

I have a decoupage question that I’m hoping someone can help with please…I painted a pizza pan with black chalk paint, let it dry overnight, added mod podge just to the flat bottom round area where pizza would go, let it dry overnight, then placed a pretty thick cut out from a calendar over the dried mod podge, then put parchment paper over it and ironed it for a few minutes…the paper ended up warping and not sticking very well. What did I do wrong and is there a way to wet the paper to save it as I love the image and don’t have another 🥲 TIA

The iron on method works best with Wood. Metal kinda is a heat conductor and activates from underneath probably overheating it. What I would try if you want to do a pizza pan if mod podge little by little and use the sponge, plastic wrap or your finger! Krafty Kathy is a good one to watch for the plastic wrap decoupage. She is always using that stuff! I hope this helps!
