Using the X-Bull 13,000 pound winch on both the front and back of the truck.

    Man, I don't know what it is with folks always anchoring so low on a tree when trying winch; If it's a tiny tree, ok...low as necessary but, that tree had enough girth to go way farther up from the ground, thereby raising the end of your log up as you pull...a ton less friction/resistance. People do that crazy crap when pulling a buried vehicle too...straight to the anchor. If you have no choice, that's one thing, but when you have a 12 to 24" diameter tree you're anchored to, move that tree saver way up the tree! You want to LIFT your dead weight as much as pull it!

    Hooking the winch up with jumper cables is like pulling a couple plug wires off a car, then testing its performance. The bag is not really necessary with a rope, but if used, it should be on the rope near the hook.

    From my experience, using jumper cables to power the winch cuts a lot of power from the winch.

    I agree 100%. This is only a temporary solution until we get a newer truck in a few months. That truck will get the permanent plug in cable connections in the front and back. Fortunately these cables are very heavy and they clamp well to the battery posts, but the surface area of the connection is much less than if it was a bolted lug.

    We have a 12-volt. electric ramsey worm-gear driven 8000lb. winch that would drag those branches out easily. We have pulled really stuck vehicles/ tractors out with it. Cable has snapped a couple of times but it never stopped pulling. You get what you pay for.

    The "branches were 40 to 50 foot tree tops from having the property logged. The winch was dragging the truck down the driveway. No winch on a truck would have pulled those tree tops out. Thanks for watching.

    Video was helpful as a demo. I already ordered this winch after reviewing all too much info. Just to share, you were standing in the "danger zone" when operating the winch when pulling the trees. Should the winch block fail on that angle you were at, you could have had some object come fly at you. Also, at the start of the pull, you may have wanted to have the block a little higher on the tree, as the rope was dragging for a small portion on the ground (a very small portion albeit) at the beginning. Synthetic ropes I read don't handle that as well as steel cable. Be safe!

  • @30smsuperstrat
    @30smsuperstrat4 жыл бұрын

    Looks like quite a bit of line stretching. As that synthetic line breaks in the pulls will be quicker.

I’m right in the middle of mounting it’s little brother the 4,500lb on my Side by Side. The 13 is next on my list because you guys got me wanting to drag some trees around! LOL! The seller labeling this winch 13,000lbs is ridiculous. IMO it's a 10k at best. I think it should be treated as an 8k if you want it to last. I paid $250 for it, and it works great on my little 4k Jeep. It also makes the loudest grinding/growling noise that scared me at first, but is working fine so far.
