I think this the most "negative" I've ever seen you, Jackie. I could definitely tell you were frustrated, but as usual, kept looking on the bright side. That's why I love watching you! Even when you have a less than stelllar experience, you brush yourself off and see the positive in the situation. Another great vid Jackie!

actually Fastpass sucked the life out of it. (former WDW castmember 78) Before fastpass even when the park was full at 99k+ inpark. the longest lines where never over an hour long at most and after a few hours, wait times where back down to 30 min or less. as a teen I was a Park pro. I learned how to read the herds of crowds and which way they where going. so I led my friends in the opposite direction. lol. sure we criss cross the park about 6-10 times in a day. but even on fully packed park days of 99k+ attendence we got to go on every attraction that we wanted to hit at least once if not 3 or more times in a day. ;) from the way it looks like on her phone. you now have that same knowledge of herds of crowds like I did. so it helps you get around to what you want to see and do while your there. every thing at WDW was designed with the idea of "get'em in, get'em out, keep them moving. only with "standby lines" the fastpass caused the choke points to back up even more. their by causing the 90 min +, wait times. its called "flow mechanics" and Disney also used psychological mechanics to keep the crowds moving. (or they use to anyways.) so for now if you don't have a grasp on how herds of crowds behieve then the Genie app should help.

I have to disagree there @mdduet we haven't been to Disney because we don't like to plan. There like many non Disney fanatics like me that don't want to get up 60 days early to plan my day at the park. With this new system I can get on most rides and only decide the night before which park to go to. Yes I might be disappointed if I don't book quickly enough still but most people will be up early for rope drop I really don't see it selling out before park opening. I will happily pay the extra $15 and enjoy the parks again without having to plan my day 2 months early. :)

@@SuperEnthused As an “older Disney Parks visitor” I guess my real frustration lies in the fact that crowds in the past were large but the day could be managed by just looking the park map and deciding where to start. Disney had not limited realistic operating crowd levels. Guests not on attractions spend more. Love watching your park blogs.

@@sherrjo "....only decide the night before which park to go to." Actually, you can't do that anymore because you're forced to make a park reservation for each day of your visit. Changing the reservation at the last minute is subject to availability. The issue is not selling out of the Genie+ service. It's the availability of getting the rides you really want on that particular day. You pay your $15, but there's no guarantee you'll be able to get on a specific ride.

I am just getting back to our hotel from Magic Kingdom! We must have passed each other at some point. Honestly, the Lightning Lanes were pretty useful after I coughed up the extra bucks. But I refused to pay extra for Seven Dwarves, and they must have been letting 20 Lightning Lane guests in for every 5 standby guests. That is pretty unacceptable.

You did a great job breaking this down and explaining it. I always enjoy your videos. Adding Genie+, (aka fast passes that you now have to pay for) adds up fast on an already increased price vacation. When you tried to book a fast pass and couldn't get one anytime soon for the ride you wanted, makes paying fees even that much worse... and the parks are not even to full capacity or crowded yet. When we bring our kids and grandkids for a family vacation, the additional fee would add up fast with 6 people per day for 7 days. It's sad to price so many families out of an opportunity to experience the most magical place on Earth. Disney World literally gave us a happy escape from Gary's illness. I believe it saved his life because he had something positive to look forward to while facing a possible 2 years to live timeline. Disney World gave him life and laughter so he didn't give up. We love Disney World but their greed is getting sad.

I feel most of us spend way too much time on our phones as it is. It is such a shame that this causes even more non-social activity. At least with the original app you didn’t have to be strategizing as much while you were in the park. A lot of people staring at phones instead of just enjoying the sights and sounds of the park. Definitely not what Walt would have liked. Honestly, I’d rather pay one substantial extra fee of $75 per day to get quick access to all E ticket rides as an option. More painful on the wallet, but a much more pleasant less stressful experience.

Thanks so much for the speed on this video!! I found it fascinating when you said "guess we're going to be doing a lot of back and forth" because I remember one of the selling points of the service is that it would recommend things NEAR you, so that wasn't the case. Also offering the ala carte items at the top every single time, even if you had purchased one, really just lends to the true reason Disney is doing this. That's pretty frustrating, and seems like the initial process was not fun. I recognize release day issues, but Disney is a billion dollar corporation, it absolutely should have been tested more before pushed out to people spending their money. I'm pretty against the whole concept, I'm already paying an incredible amount to come to Disney, so experiencing longer lines because of paid services? We'd been excited to visit Disney again, but I'm really not sure what's going on with a lot of their decisions. Thanks for such an honest review of your first experience and look forward to the updates!!!

Thanks for this video! Genie+ seems like an absolute nightmare (regular Genie as well). I was frustrated on your behalf just watching. Pretty much the last thing I really want to do is be on my phone the whole time while in Disney. I highly doubt I'll be using Genie or paying for Genie+ on our 2022 vacation. There are some neat features, but it seems too much to try and manage. I just want to ride rides, eat food, and be happy.

That was a great demonstration and it was fun learning asking with you. I think you're right about alternating Lightning Lane and the regular line to fit in the most rides. Great advice!

I loved this video, you are a breathe of fresh air, as always 😊. But observing your first experience, I can see that a lot of the Magic is centered around the app, and not on appreciating the Park, free of technology. Of you are a PH, I honestly don’t see the value in Genie+. I think this is more geared towards the family that goes once every 5 or 10 years, I can see where it will help maximize your experience. But I can’t help to wonder, is this really worth sacrificing your true experience, for the extra money.

The thing I would say is ten bucks to someone who has never been to Disney or goes every few years might be more worth it then say you who goes a few times a week/ month. Just looking at it from someone not Flordia

Thanks for being real about it and I agree, too much time on your phones! Those who have to travel there like to have all their days planned out in advance. What about dining reservations? How do you plan and factor those in if you have to wait till day of to plan your day? Half the fun of a Disney trip is planning it and taking into account what everyone in your party wants to do.. ahead of the trip not each day of the trip! Sigh.. miss the old Disney..Glad we have our good memories of the past.

We were there today too! I’m so sad we didn’t see you 😭 It was the last day of our trip so I guess we’ll hope to see you in May:) We were hoping Disney wouldn’t bring back any form of FastPasses because the lines are shorter for everyone without them. It was also nice to not have to crisscross the park for rides at specific times.

Thanks for this Jackie, it’s a lot clearer now you have shown it in action. I do feel Disney are ripping us off having to pay extra if we want shorter lines. I know they lost a lot of money due to the pandemic but this is a terrible plan they have put in place, I feel sorry for families. This may put me off from coming again after my next trip which is already booked

Dang, missed ya in the park by one day! Heading back home Thursday. The whole Florida experience was magical! Genie +/Lighting Lane is something that needed to be explained and you did a good job showing us how to use the app. My personal opinion is that I probably wouldn’t get the paid version for Genie Plus because I don’t mind waiting in a reasonable line. The queue lines are entertaining for the most part and I’ve met some wonderful people waiting in line that started up a conversation! Maybe on really busy days I might just make that purchase though. Thanks for the video, Jackie!

Thanks for being our guinea pig for this new feature. The zig zagging is worth it if you don't have to stand in hour long lines, at least that is what I tell the kids.
