The "play dough" texture is actually mochi. They put mochi inside which gives it the texture, if you don't know what that is, it's some sort of filling (Icecream or red bean paste) wrapped in a soft and streachy outer part. it's not gone bad or anything its yummy and perfectly fine to eat. 😊

As somebody who lives in Japan. If you visit Japan, you SHOULD try McDonalds. But know that if you only visit you aren’t getting the whole menu. McDonalds here has seasonal items which fits Japan’s seasonal culture. They generally bring back the popular items, but only around the season/holiday it is for. I think most people come in spring, when they have sakura style items. My personal favorite is around October when they have tsukimi (moon viewing) themed items. The chicken nugget is like 90% tofu and the rest chicken. This isnt abiut additives. Its about getting what you paid for. If you got a neef burger and paid for it, but realized the cut it with tofu half and half. I think youd be rather annoyed. The girl's eyes nearly popped out of her head and then asked, "Really?!" I didn't understand her shock at my request until she pulled some packets from under the counter. 1 of their packets was equal to roughly 5 here in the US and if memory serves each packet cost an extra 10 cents.

Other places do have some seasonal things, but not so much.

I haven't been to Japan but I did eat at McDonald's in Odessa Ukraine. Tasted just like home. The one BIG difference was the packets of ketchup. I love ketchup and asked for 10 or 12 packets. The girl's eyes nearly popped out of her head and then asked, "Really?!" I didn't understand her shock at my request until she pulled some packets from under the counter. 1 of their packets was equal to roughly 5 here in the US and if memory serves each packet cost an extra 10 cents.
