I think some people, the idea of eating something so sweet gets lost on them. But the traditional way I was taught to eat Krispy Kremes when they were nice and hot. Get a black coffee (of course Krispy Kreme brew) and a nice glazed donut. You take the donut, dip it in the coffee and eat it like that. The bitter, dark, strong coffee conflicts with the icey warm sweet donut. It does amazing things. Born and raised US of A. But I recommend trying it like this

I love Krispy Kreme! It's a yeast doughnut rather than a cake doughnut, so that might be why the dough is different. The recipe came from a chef in New Orleans, so there actually might already a French connection there. Anyway, someone told me that her cousin likes to take one dozen Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts, stack them on top of each other and smash them into one super thick doughnut aso they can eat them all at once - I dont' think I believe her!

I've been to the Louvre which was jam packed with people, I paid a lot of money (before the Euro) to go to the highest level of the Eiffel Tower, and I went on a tour of the bone-filled Catacombs. I hope you tell us what you both thought of the other places you went to in Paris. It was so fun seeing you both trying something knowing that you were expecting one thing, and being pleasantly surprised by it. I'm also very happy that the customer service in the Paris Krispy Kreme was really good as well. Thanks for bringing us along even though you were freezing! Keep Smiling Marie!

Bonjour Marie! Krispy Kreme donuts are ok for a chain store. The freshly made Hot ones are only the plain glazed (the one you had in the to right corner that was just glazed and noting else.) It's fun to see them being made and then the workers literally grab one off the conveyor belt and hand it to you, for free, while you are waiting to order! Those are amazing, the others are just ok. They don't let you buy just one? Here in the US, you can buy one, or 2, or whatever, but I think the smallest "box size" is 6. Anyway, I'm glad you got to spend the day with your Mom. I'm a little surprised she hadn't really been to Paris (I know your parents live in the countryside) but that was a little surprising. Hope you 2 had a great time! Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed

I've always found the Krispy Kreme donuts to be pretty special. There's something about their dough recipe that creates this unique experience. Of course - there are a lot of different types of American donuts out there. And I some other favorites (a hot, fresh old-fashioned dusted with cinnamon and sugar with a hot coffee or apple cider just MAKES a cold Fall / Winter day). Food is one of those ways I love experiencing different cultures. Back in the day, I lived in Germany. Me and the crew would go on a road trip on occasional weekends - my friend's wife was cool with it as long as he returned with a dozen American donuts from the bakery there. She wasn't wrong. Those were special. Even though we were surrounded with some delicious German food - including excellent pastries. Which I remember fondly and eagerly try to recapture whenever I encounter a German restaurant.

Hi. I love your videos. I am from Arizona and the Krispy Kreme stores here used to have 2-3 hour lines every day. Then an idiot who had bought the franchise rights to Arizona stole $3M from his company and they went bankrupt. He was making $100,000s per month but choose to kill the Golden Goose that was making him rich. I remember standing in the lines and the employees would pass out free samples while we waited and people would start dancing and singing because they were soooooooooooooo good! I would stand in line for the 3 hours as soon as they opened so I could deliver a dozen (I would buy 3-6 dozen) to my vendors for my company. The office ladies LOVED me... lol what a wonderful memory, thanks for the video!

Needless to say I didnt eat that many.

Nice to see and your lovely Mom happy, smiling, and enjoying the day. Glad the donuts 🍩 were a nice experience for you because you're right, sometimes American sweets can be very sweet. If you get the chance to go again make sure to wait for a freshly made batch to come out because it does make the donut a little better when it's warm and soft! I had heard from an American that went to that store that they were surprised that they kept the original dough and flavors that we use and didn't alter them for French tastes and what you are used to over there. It makes the experience better because some places will sell American food but have a lot of local flavors and styles sold along with them, or will alter the recipes some so that they are more in line with local palettes and you get a very mixed experience, and sometimes the food that's supposed to be American isn't actually the same as what we have over here. Hope we see more of you enjoying yourself with your family!

We call that colored stuff, white, chocolate, pink: frosting. Doughnuts are either plain, sugar coated, glazed(clear sugar coating) or frosted. The one without the hole is coated with powdered sugar. Doughnuts are like baguette - they go stale fast. But you can microwave them to perk them up (no more than 15 seconds or the glaze/frosting melts). In the US there is a rivalry between Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme even though they are each very regional. Dunkin’ primarily in the northeast and KK primarily in the south. Dunkin’ prides itself on its coffee and you can buy Dunkin’ ground coffee in many US grocery stores. My favorite donught is a crueller - a doughnut shaped like a whirly gig (moulin à vent) that is glazed.

Hey Marie , Get'em while they're Hot 😋 lose an hour gain a 🥯 It's great seeing you back in Paris again with your mom. What a treat , Krispy Kreme picked out a cool spot with buskers playing. A nice variety of flavours to take a bite out of , you can't go wrong with chocolate & creme filling. The classic cinnamon has the lowest sugar , but the sweetest has to be the pink strawberry one you saved for last with the sprinkles. I dunno know if they do use the Italian hazelnut Nutella spread or not , I find that the type of chocolate does make all the difference. When Rudolph started Krispy Kreme he didn't have any stores of his own & just sold them out from the factory, everybody was so intoxicated by the aromas he cut a hole in the wall & began making sales out on the sidewalk. He brought the secret to the famous yeast raised donut off a New Orleans Chef it seems nobody knows the name of. The Birdies never let an opportunity go to waste , before you know it there'll be a flock of Starlings , their quite tame , it's weird but pretty seeing Parakeets 🐦in winter. Your 🍩 were delicious knowing you your try them all & rate them eventually , how about the chocolate iced raspberry filling & the custard , maybe you also noticed the Valentine ❤️ shaped cholo - lot cherry red icing special with a rose , there'll be popular for sure. They have a Krispy Kreme doughnut run in North Carolina , you have to eat a dozen before running back to the memorial Bell tower , it's all for a good cause , the children's hospital. Back in 2012 there was a rapper that got into trouble for using the same name that now goes by froggy fresh. There was even a gold champagne jelly donut made in the UK that was worth $1,685 along with edible diamonds & also a Twitter contest with a lucky winner receiving a double hundred dozen glazed originals in a 11ft long box , they'll have plenty of friends. Thanks Marie & that your mom enjoyed all the sights , I can't believe she hasn't already , it seems chilly but least you weren't all covered up like an Eskimo in your Facebook pics ( sorry I can't join) , roll on Spring 🌼 Have a wonderful Sunday Blessed Be 🥰🗼✌️

I always thought the original Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut was a little too sweet. Always great to see Mom (aka your twin) and even though it's cold, it looks like a beautiful day in Paris.

Yeah, I agree. Even as an American, I find Krispy Kreme doughnuts to be a bit too sweet, and a bit too heavy for me. Never thought I'd say that about doughnuts... Edit: Hmmm, maybe they're different in France? 🤔

I hope you can eventually try when the "hot now" sign is on. This means they are still on the line being made and at least in the states they will give you a free one with your purchase right off the line. I can't say they are the best donuts I've ever had but it's certainly a unique experience. When they are warm they literally melt in your mouth.

Gotta try 'em fresh and warm ... they melt in our mouth. When they are making them (at least here) and they're coming out off the conveyor belt, they usually have someone handing out samples right off the line, and they are soooooo good !!!

I have to admit, Marie, your French is fantastic....lol P.S.- good news for you....Americans don't mind subtitles, love listening to French (even if we don't understand it), and your Mom was a real treat to watch. You can make more French videos (w/ Mom, etc.) and we'll still love/appreciate them!!.....

Did they have a hot light? In the US, they turn on the light that says "Hot" on the outside of the building, so people show up when they are fresh. They only do that for the original glazed donut which does not have filling. Those are my favorite. They practically melt in your mouth. They also go really good with a nice glass of milk to wash them down!

They must have adjusted the recipe. The flavored ones are usually too sweet for me. However as many other comments have said. A plain glazed when the "Hot Now" sign is on is amazing!
