I'm from South Africa and none of these are really traditional South African food... Those are not even real koeksisters...real koeksisters are braided, don't have coconut in or on them and they have way more syrup in it as well as over it. And it is pronounced sa-"moo"-sas...and it is actually from India. Other South African food include milktart, bobotie, biltong, mieliepap, boerewors, malva pudding, chakalaka, rusks, bunny chow, droëwors, braaibroodjies, etc. And the guy that discovered Cape Town (Jan van Riebeeck) is not Portugese, he is Dutch! And South Africa has 11 oficial languages.

Every taste test of Marmite and the like is the same. I expect nothing other than people acting disgusted. Snorefest. People PILE it on. A true South African knows how to work those ratios! Toast, butter, and a SMALL amount of Marmite goes a long way. Then you get that amazing hint of saltiness, etc. Tsk. People need to be taught the way.
