    This is a great video apart from the fact that this interface looks nothing like the "game" that I bought from cine tracer... I don't have an Import option, at least I can't find one, so I can't add any actors or lights or the camera!

    Oh yeah, I've used Source Filmmaker before. Matter of fact, there's a couple of things like this, going all the way back to 3D Movie Maker back in the 90's. I appreciate this running on newer hardware and being a little more in-depth, but it's not necessarily the first.

    Can you record (and export) your camera movement etc in order to create a VIDEO story board (a virtual version of your film) or you can only create this boring photo story board ???? thanks

  • @shutterstocktutorials

    @shutterstocktutorials

    Well, it's currently in pre-release mode still, so changes are always being made, and I'm sure there are plans for that in the future. However, for the time being you could always just use some screen capture software to capture what the camera is seeing.

  • @videoart1496

    @@shutterstocktutorials thanks for the answer.. if this is the case, then it is just an other PHOTO story board software. A bit more impressive and futuristic but nothing special...yet. What is the reason of all these movement, graphics, animation etc if the only think you can export is just PHOTOs ?????? Where is the PRACTICAL innovation ? What I would expect from a featured story-board software like this is the option to record the camera movement, dolly and slide shots etc, to show partners and director exactly the way to shoot a scene. But this doesn' t exist. For the price IS TOO EXPENSIVE with impressive internal features but with very boring and limiting export options.

    That's pretty cool, but "world's first"? In 2005 there was a game called The Movies, where you could do stuff just like that. More importantly there is Moviestorm, that is very similar to this software but sadly now outdated and not developed any more.

  • @RealHomeRecording

    I don't feel that either of those is comparable to this one. It appears that this will ultimately become like "PC Building Simulator" but for filmmaking. Whereby real life filmmaking equipment can be used for planning real life movie scenes. The closest thing may be Frame Forge. CINE TRACER isn't a game, it is affordable previs software.

  • @NihilQuest

    @NihilQuest

    @@RealHomeRecording Moviestorm isn't a game either. The workflow is identical. Build sets, customise characters, make them do stuff, light the set, set the shots, even edit. There's actual lens size and DOF. The only difference I see, is you don't have stuff like dolly. You just make a dolly shot by programming a camera. I'd say that's rather comparable.

    Aug24th well it depends. If it’s just you and your friends that are shooting and having fun this CAN be a waste of time. BUT if you’re shooting with collaborators and you don’t want to waste their time. You can do your homework and figure things out BEFORE you get to the location and already have an idea of what you want your scene to look like. It will make a lot of things faster and not waste time trying to figure things out. Specially if you’re working on a scheduled time.
