Avocado is called Butter fruit from ages and is grown in Southern states mainly coorg and one plant would grow around hundreds of them and my relatives used to sell them for some cosmetic company as they can't consume so much.. We used to plan trip such tat we cud go in May month to get them home.. Always Delicious.. Now a days it's popular as it's become expensive and diet food.. It's funny how we don recognize our country origin but know abt other countries even wen Google has all the info.. I was even told it's grown in some Himalayan regions also..

@@Aradhaya45720 North Karnataka has a marked Maharashtrian influence as they ruled over us for some time. We have similar yet different cuisine. Our bhakris are thin and huge. My grandmother would make a bhakri nearly as big as the tawa. The circumference would be just a few centimetres short of the tawa edge. We also make Puran Poli but we call it Holige. It is compulsory to make katinna saaru or rasam when we make and it tastes da bomb. The filling for puran poli or Holige is made with Tuvar/ Chana dal and jaggery. We cook the dal in an open vessel instead of a pressure cooker . We cook it till it is half done i.e. largely soft but has a bite . Then we drain the dal and use that dal water to make rasam which tastes divine. BTW I didn't eat idli, dosa etc till my teens. I was from a small village in north Karnataka and all this was unknown. I came to a big city in my teens and ate idlis and my mother learnt how to make it.
