I wear Shalimar all year around and it always makes me feel so happy and special. I personally find vintage perfumes more I retesting and complex, it is more like an art rather than business to please the crowd. To me, Shalimar smells very modern and niche!

My great gramma loved L’air de temps. That is the only perfume she wore. She had a dressing room a joined to her closet and had broken a bottle (or 2) over the years. It always smelled faintly of the fragrance and has always had a loving embrace connotation to it, my gramma was a hugger and loved to squeeze and kiss on her grandkids. When she died I wanted a few things from her home to keep, that reminded me of her. I walked through her room and into her dressing room and was instantly hit with L’air de temps! I had forgotten about the fragrance for many years and smelling it again, I can’t lie... made me cry. All of my childhood memories came rushing back. All happy, loving and full of my grammas big smile and loving embrace. So I thought, if she had a bottle of it I would take it. And guess what... she had several unused bottles!! I took one for myself which I haven’t opened. I don’t know how old it is. The liquid is much darker than what you see now. It’s probably from the 80s!!! Anyhoo, I don’t need to open it to smell it. Just holding it in my hands brings back the fragrance and all the wonderful memories associated with it. As silly as it seems I feel as if I can sense my gramma when I hold it.... 🌈🙏🏻🤙🏻

That is such a beautiful story and memory. 🤗❤️ She sounds like an wonderful lady and it's amazing that she had something you could keep to remember her by like that. I'm sure she would be so happy to know that something that brought her so much joy to wear can now bring you the feeling of having her near. I remember her having a lot of Avon fragrances and Yves Rocher (a French beauty brand like Avon) I remember some of them being oriental, fresh and woody. I think one might have been called Haiku? I was a little gay boy growing up in the south so sneaking around to smell ladies perfumes and play in her makeup felt like committing a crime! Lol So many silly memories 🌈 Maybe that’s something you could do, a blind buy for Avon scents. I believe they were very popular in the 80s and 90s. Just an idea 😇🤙🏻

Ah yes! Yves Rocher was the first makeup and perfume I ever bought! From an actual catalog and had to pay with a money order sent in no less! 🤣 My grandma loved to wear Sweet Honesty from Avon. 💕 That's a great idea to try them out again! Thanks so much for the rec! ❤️

I’m wearing the L’ air now. I found a bottle at Walmart for 10 dollars. It’s a purse spray but it was a good deal.

Love Shalimar and Youth Dew... I always had a thing for vintage perfumes, I always feel amazing when I wear them, thinking of the history of all the women that wore it in the past...

I know a lot of young people ages 25-35 that wear Youth Dew by Estée Lauder, I’m so surprised when people say it’s an old lady perfume, especially because these days it seems that so Many fragrances out there in the market all carry that really heavy amber-sandalwood-vanilla-musky-bergamot spice 😃 Youth Dew is also a really good price considering it’s from a very reputable cosmetic company! but you’re right it all depends on ones personal preference & skin chemistry.

💯 Perfumes are so personal so it's wonderful that there's so many options out there to suit every taste. I tend to feel like I'm suffocating when a perfume is really heavy smelling. I suffer from horrible allergies though so pretty much any really strong scent can trigger my nose to stuff up and make my day miserable 😩 Thanks so much for sharing your experience Martin! My Mimi (grandmother) wore Shalimar everyday since my Grampa gave it to her on Christmas morning back in the 50s. It's a classic and I miss her/them dearly. Smelling a wiff of Shalimar every once in a while makes it feel like she is sitting in the room with me having a cookie and asking me about my day.

Well, the word on the street is that the L' Air du Temps of today is nothing like the original. It was reformulated and the magic is gone. It was beautiful.

It's a shame that these companies reformulate when their original scent is what people know and love. I am 61 years old. When I was a teen, (1970's) I wore Windsong, Jovan Musk, Charlie, and Heaven Scent. I loved them all, but Heaven Sent was my all time favorite. I'm not sure you can even get these any more. They changed designers over time, if they are produced at all. I would die gor a bottle of Heaven Sent. To me, it truly was divine!

My late grandma dislike Youth Dew. A relative gave it to her, and she shoved to me after one sniff 🤣🤣🤣. My younger sister hates it, she said it smells like old hair oil. Funnily personally I quite like the scent of Youth Dew. I think it smells like old hair oil, coke & spice. After my grandma passing, I keep the bottle she gave me as a keepsake and buy a new bottle.

Love this video! Totally understand about association with scent and memories or people. Youth dew, beautiful bottle, was the signature scent of 2 women I knew that were not the nicest people. I'm sure it is wonderful on someone who has the chemistry for it. White shoulders smelled wonderful on a 3rd grade teacher everyone loved 💕 in the 70s lol Shalimar was our neighbors signature scent which she must have bathed in lol and even her Christmas cookies smelled of it!! Stumbled onto your video cuz I watch a lot about vintage fragrances - huge fragrance guy here, knowledgeable and own about a hundred bottles... I have enjoyed Givenchy Organza and Roma Laura Biagotti in the past, with Shalimar being my current fave. I’ve sniffed Calvin Klein Obsession and Rochas Femme and enjoyed those as well. I need to explore more of the classics.

That's awesome that you drive a big rig!I love you even more.I love the classics.White Shoulders,Youth Dew,Anais,Anais, Ralph Lauren, Private Collection,some of my favorites.I also like Aleage is one some people think stinks but it smells good on me and its an I mean business fragrance.I think the problem with Youth Dew is a little gose a long way so people keep it too long and it smells old.It smells best on the skin in small amount,not clothing.I would love to smell all the Guerlain fragrances.I have never smelled the Shalimar that hadn't been on someone's dresser forever.Great review!You might like the Anais,Anias.Im so excited I discovered you have other videos!

💯 I liked it so much that I bought the summer bloom (I think that's the one). It's supposedly a dupe for Chanel Chance eau Tendre. They're quite similar and the Sunflowers one is much more within my budget. Definitely one to check out if you want a more powdery/light floral version of the original! 🤗❤️🇺🇸

Hi! I tried the edp but for the notes I just googled, they might've listed them wrong 😖 The classic perfumes really are very intriguing. It's nice to wear something that has been around for so many decades.

The only fragrances ever that I have not get tired or annoyed about before finishing the samples are Kenzo Flower and Estee Lauder Pleasures. Out of those you talk about I actually love Lair du temps and Youth Dew. That being said I think my taste is rather unpopular becuase I never get compliments of fragrances and men and ladies seem to love fragrances which I absolutely think smell really bad. I do not really wear fragrance every day. None of the things I like are people pleasers. And I do not want to wear anything I hate on myself. So I wear nothing unless I am in the mood that I couldnt care less.

My favourite perfume was Very Valentino from 1998 it’s discontinued now. I loved it they should bring it back. It gets sold online for astronomical prices!

Thanks for this review! I was thinking of getting L’air du Temps for nostalgia reasons. It’s funny you thought it smelled “old lady”. When I was in my late teens/early 20’s (in the 70’s) it’s what all the cool girls were wearing and we are, in fact, now old ladies! 😆 I think I will give it a pass and move forward with something more modern, or maybe try Shalimar which sounds more timeless.😊

I appreciate you being so chill about the "old lady" remark. It's amazing how many people felt so attacked by it and even went so far as to make threats because of it. Insanity 😅 My grandma was an old lady and I thought she was awesome (her love of baby powder perfumes though... not so much 🤣) I'm sure I'll hear one day that my favorite Marc Jacobs one is soooo old lol. Shalimar is a great one to go for. In terms of more modern fragrances I love Lancome Idole as a timeless style one. J’adore by Dior is my classic scent. If you can find L’Air du Temps Eau Florale with a pink juice... it’s a very floral and fresh scent. I really got many compliments for this one and it has nothing to do with the original except the pretty bottle! 😆 White Linen by Estée Lauder is one of their classic scents I’d like to try. I already own Bronze Goddess and Modern Muse Chic by her which are way more my age (46 but not too wrinkled! 🤣) Beautiful Belle is always very petty light floral... might order this one too... Youth Dew though... atrocious! 🤣🤣 Sorry!

Bwahaha! I'm so glad I'm not alone in the youth dew disgust 🤣 the reviews were absolutely GLOWING so I thought it would be a big hit. Oh, how wrong they steered me 😅 I'm taking notes on those others though. The pink l'air sounds promising! I'm really gravitating toward the classics lately. It's much more affordable to experiment with those and you don't usually run across a million other ladies wearing them too. Thanks for all those good recs!

Shalimar EDP really has amazing staying power and it really smells expensive.. Arden Sunflower is amazing too but the drydown somehow smells like a cheap scent and not very classy... i have both and lately i have been using alot of Sunflower for nostalgic reason..

Oh wow talk about a blast from the past! I remember seeing that in stores when I was very young and thinking the bottle looked so cool. And they had one of those designer imposter spray cans that was supposed to be like it at the dollar store in my hometown. I don't think I ever smelled it but now it's definitely going on my list! It's designed by Sophia Grojsman who has created dozens of the most iconic and recognizable scents for different brands in modern time. I think it's held up well for a fun youthful scent, and it's an instant time travel back to the 90s for me when I smell it. 😂

White Tea has been on my list for a while and I haven't tried Green Tea either but I did buy Green Tea Tropical and really like it! I love very stereotypical summer scents though 😅 I really enjoy that Elizabeth Arden makes a ton of variations of the same base fragrance. Thanks so much for the support Kimberly! 🤗💚

If I'm remembering correctly he thought it was just so-so when I first had him smell it. But I've worn it several times since and when I do he always compliments how I smell. I think he had to grow into it just like I did. 😅

Very disappointed with spellbound..the scent is weak and the color is very pale...the quality has changed..I have been wearing it for years..it is not the same...not worth paying for any more

Lady And The Truck I had that revlon cierra that everyone in the reviews was raving about. It smelled so powdery and exactly like an old lady 😝 I had to get rid of it!

Hello dear!! I love your Channel, I don’t have a channel but I do collect many fragrances … it’s my hobby! Okay so some other good classic Estée Lauder perfumes are: Okay so I love Estee Lauder fragrances because the performance on all of them is excellent, their formulas tend to have a lot of juice perfume concentration, which means you get a good amount of quality perfume for what you pay for. (I love their face cream too!) These days there are wonderful fragrances that smell good, from Top Name companies but when you first put them on but they quickly fade away, they have poor performance. Example of this is the GUCCI BLOOM collection, I absolutely am in love With the Gucci Bloom fragrances but when I put them on they only last about an hour, I just hate that. I love my perfumes that last a long time on my skin. If I am paying $150+ for about 3oz. of perfume (the full size bottles) then I want it to last, you know what I’m talking about. Thierry Mugler Also makes long lasting perfumes. Okay so here are some good classic Lauder scents … YOUTH DEW SPELLBOUND WHITE LINEN KNOWING BEAUTIFUL ALLIAGE BEYOND PARADISE PRIVATE COLLECTION (the original first one that was introduced in the 60s or 70s)
