Try it! Best Foolproof Egg Drop Design Ever!
Ғылым және технология
1. Buy small size eggs and then in the pack select the smallest one of the lot.
2. Check for weak eggs with a light.
3. Pack it i the middle of a big pile of flour in a bag packed to the top.
It would be interesting to see how small of a box you could get away with.

Thank you, I might get an A now. Also, I would suggest putting sponges or something on the sides just in case.
Thanks a lot! We tried and were successful! We used 6x6x6x6 and two small sacks of flour and it still worked.
I have to do this project but it can't have a parachute, it can't include any food item, the eggs has to be visible at all times, it has to be 45cm by 45cm by 45cm or less, it cant include foam or any thing that can cushion the egg and can't have any premade objects as a part of the design. And it's being dropped from 150ft

My college 3D design class have this project.. It's the one that I'm working on.. R.I.P. Little egg...
I can't use any food items, anything like flour thats not edible?
What if you had a limited amount of pieces like 3, and the biggest 'one piece' can be 10 centimeters by 10 centimeters???
I think rules like the egg must be in a box stifles the design creativity... and can prevent students from exploring clever and very valid methods of protecting the egg through physics.

Defeats the purpose of the whole experiment

Zwro The purpose of the experiment is to teach the children the physics behind impacts and redistributing those forces in such a manner as to protect the egg... so no... it doesn't defeat the purpose of the experiment to give them the ability to use other materials such as straws, or sticks or paper, or even non helium balloons... they are all valid avenues of learning the principles of physics being taught... and even NASA uses such techniques for landing various equipment or vessels... I'd argue that limiting the choices of the children so that they could not explore other methods actually defeated the purpose of the experiment more so than anything else.

Zwro My mistake... I thought you were claiming that my desire to increase the options defeated the purpose.

Note they just meant that the design had to be no bigger than a box, it was never stated that it needed to be in a box of any kind.
I filled a box with cheerios xD. It worked
Thx I got an A+
I can't see the egg w/ a flash light because the school gives you an egg as you're turn comes up
I have to do this project it is a glider that goes far from 35 ft high and can only weigh 3 times the weight of the egg
This sounds so good but I can't use any powder
yeah but teachers aren't dumb enough to allow you to use a whole box and a bag
Should have threw all the eggs at the kid wearing the Vikings jersey! Hahaha, thanks for the help, and GO PACKERS!!!

I just got a container and a bunch of sponges to protect it. Egg drop is in two days, hope it survives!

+The Bronze Sword how did you do it? What container did u used? What type of sponges? and How many sponges? lol I will be working on it in class

Well got a regular sized plastic tall container. put a sponge in the bottom, put egg on the sponge put sponges on all sides of the egg, making sure it's tight and has no space to move. put sponge on the top and close the lid. then, i put tape around the container so the lid wont come off and put sponges all around the container. so pretty much sponges are key.

just tried it.FAILED :(
Come back papi 😰
What Is the point ? What i need do this for? I dont know What for? I need yo do this shit can you tell me please what Is the point?
Get some sponges and rubber bands bam
just attach the egg to 4 or 5 ballons and it will be allright
I failed the project :(
You could put the egg in the middle of a peanut butter jar and it'll work just fine

TheBlockShack I used this design, surrounded by packing peanuts inside of a 8x8x8 stainless steel metal box surrounded by packin peanuts and another steel box (10x10x10) the rules were simple: no screwing with the egg, and no larger thatn 1 cubic foot it survived a 7 story drop
