TRX-4 LC70: 1 Minute Battery Fitting without Body removal, Screws, Body clips or Tools!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Fitting the battery only takes about 1 minute in this clip. The rest shows the ESC access and then some build details in stills to fill out the song length. Didn’t want to cut it short cause it ROCKS!!
Traxxas TRX-4 with a KillerBody LC70 cab. Battery is a 7.4v 2S 5000 mAh 45C LiPo Hard case SuperNano by NXE Power. Case size is (L)138mm x (H)46mm x (W)24mm.
When I started this build one thing I noticed immediately was the battery access or difficulty there of! Also getting access to the ESC to power on the Cruiser was an issue in its stock position as I wanted a full interior. I could tell that taking the body off to access those would get tired real quick!
So anyway here’s a video showing the battery getting fitted and and ESC switch access and function.
Some build details below,
Traxxas TRX-4 with a KillerBody LC70 cab on custom mounts. Was originally the Land Rover Defender version. Body and tray unpainted. (Only inside the cab and under bonnet is painted flat black)
Stock front inner guards narrowed and bolted to shortened TRX-4 floors trimmed to suit the LC70 cab.
Full custom interior with Yeah Racing seats, Cab floor hides the shift servo and diff (T) lock servos.
ESC relocated behind grill. Access for switch via opening bonnet.
Battery connection access via passenger door. 2s 5000mAh LiPo Hard Case Battery behind seats. Access via hinged panel at cab rear. Flat Tray is hinged at the rear and held down with a spring loaded catch.
Stock Receiver box relocated between seats as centre console. Antenna relocated to the position provided on the receiver box.
Stock steering servo replaced because it's mandatory...
KillerBody ARB Bumper(Bull/Rat Bar) on custom mounts with supplied LightForce driving lights.
Custom solid steel side rails/rock sliders.
RC4WD 9.5 cti Warn Winch with wireless remote.
Rims and tyres are from a HSP RC4 Crawler and are 1.9” rims with 107mm OD tyres. Rims are plastic and have the hole drilled out to suit the stepped stub axle. Spacers required under wheel nut as the rim is little thin and the nut hits the stub axle shoulder before clamping on the rim.
Stock springs and shockers. Shock mounts for the rear upper are custom brackets.
Custom Flat Bed Tray with folding/removable sides and tail gate.
Wheel base is 313mm with the stock Defender rear links machined down in length by around 11mm.
Many other minor mods to come....

Sam Rebert yeah I hear ya!! When I first fitted the LC70 on the chassis I could tell it was going to be a pain to have to remove it every time just to put the battery in it! If you check out my latest clip there’s some shots of it with the cab tilted forward to get to the RX and all the other stuff. (False cab floor comes out for further access). If needed I can fully remove the cab but there’s a lot of wires to unplug. There’s over 20 LEDs added to this thing now. 8 alone for the LiPo Hazard light set up! Plus the winch and LED controller as well as a BEC for the steering servo. That’s on top of the standard TRX4 gear! Wires everywhere!!! ⚡️⚡️😂

ka4172 thanks. I did design and build the tray. It was cut on my CNC router and not 3D printed. It’s made from white PVC so is unpainted. The black hinges for the drop sides are also CNC cut but have metal hinge pins. The battery door was done the same way on the CNC.

  • @tippityplop477

    @tippityplop477

Shawn Johnson the ESC (speed controller) is fitted between the chassis rails on a custom plate right behind the front bumper mount. The receiver is still in the original stock box however that is now mounted between the seats on a false floor. Below the false floor is the three micro servos. The T lock servos are on the original bracket but that has been flipped 90 degrees to lay flat, same way the HI/LO shift servo which is in its original location and orientation.

Sam Rebert thank you. I'm not sure exactly how to answer that sorry? I'll try though! It's a combination of a KillerBody cab/bumper and Traxxas TRX-4 chassis. I made the rest apart from the seats and intercooler. Most of my parts I designed in CAD and cut on my CNC router. Some are hand made like the side rails (from 5mm solid steel bar) The build has progressed a little from this clip, the tray is a remote tipper and some other tweaks have been done. Plus it's a bit beat up now from having fun with it! 👍🏼
