These type of guys build their own cages with the lives they create. $15-20K @ month burn rate to run their family/home life? They are spending it as fast as they make it. No sympathy for any of these guys. They've been making great money for years, maybe 6 figures for the last 10-12 years. NOW they miss one paycheck and they can't make their mortgage? That is classic living above your means.

My finance professor in college said "live lean". And really drilled home the importance of living on less than you make. He drove a Lamborghini Gallardo. Did very well for himself with other ventures and a family business. All that to say I have no debt, plenty of cash and assets and live well below my means.

Very much the theme of 2008 and Id say today. You tend to spend what you make. Hard not to.

@@kendallevans4079 it’s more about what you can afford at the limit. They weren’t expecting to be fired. They were still spending money on things they didn’t need to like the golf club but again, no one saw what the economy was headed

@@Buzz1776 It's still on them! BE READY ! For anything! NO job is 100% certain for life. Elliot Janeway, an old economist, warned decades ago "6 months of living expenses socked away", In 2023, I wouldn't feel comfortable with less that 1 year, minimum,

The cool thing is Gene McClary did not have to do this. He could have retired and lived very well. But decided to help give other men jobs.

He's a capitalist? What's "cool" about that? He did what he did to make more money.
