I grew up in a Pentecostal church and went to youth camps were they were praying for us to speak in tongues and I didn’t want it to be brought about by all their ranting and raving ( I know they meant well but as a young teenager that’s what I thought) but I knew that I wanted to be able to speak to God in his perfect will. Well after I got home I was lying in bed praying and I asked God to fill me with his Holy Spirit I had the best feeling ever come over me and I started praying in tongues. I always feel fantastic after praying 🙏🏻 in tongues and have perfect peace. I have never suffered anxiety or depression as if I ever feel stressed I just start praying 🙏🏻 in tongues and I’m in complete peace.

Pastor Nolan this teaching is life altering for me. I attend a Pentocostal Church which makes me feel less than adequate because I dont speak in tongues. I have prayed to, so now I know God will give me this gift , according to his will, and praying in tongues will provide me the ability to know what to pray for when i dont know. My church prays in tongues most of the time even though i dont , so I now can release my feeling that im not worthy because I dont. Perhaps after this teaching changing churches may be in order. God Bless you and your teaching . I appreciate so much you dont charge for these wonderful teachings . You are a gifted teacher and scholar, and have taught me more than any pastor in my 63 years of being saved. Thank you , God Bless

On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples in the Upper Room with a physical sign of cloven tongues of fire. One of the signs is speaking in tongues (languages) among other gifts yet the evangelical world uses it as the only sign that you are anointed with the Holy Spirit. Wrong. It is ONE of the gifts. Please note this particular gift is to speak in another language and not the babbling the evangelical world speak. Paul cautions that if you wish to speak in an unknown tongue someone else should be present who can interpret it, if not you need to hold your peace because God is not the author of confusion. The Holy Spirit uses that person who speaks in another tongue to edify those who are listening.

When I was twenty I went to a non-denominational Christian university. I sought for the baptism in the spirit and to speak in tongues. I thought of it as a right of passage. I asked for it, prayed for it, but didn’t get it. I didn’t let anyone know I didn’t have it. I was being proud and didn’t want anyone to think I was unworthy. Then The Holy Spirit told me to be humble, and ask my friends to pray for me. I did. A few days later while at a revival meeting, I received the baptism of the Spirit. My pride had gotten in the way. Once I humbled myself, God was able to bless me, and lift my spirit meet His Spirit. I am still blessed at age 71.

Speaking in tongues and not understanding what you say is not fruitful for oneself nor is it fruitful for the body of Christ. There is no use for it. It was not even done until the mid-1800s with the roof starting it called the shakers that is the first time it was done, a so-called Christian sect. In 1901 Agnes Osman of the Pentecostals supposedly spoken Chinese for three days. She supposedly also wrote in Chinese for three days, and linguist came in to examine the phenomenon only To explain that it was not a language at all. It was incoherent babbling. A mission was set up after this for the Pentecostal to go and preach the Bible worldwide, because it was thought that the spirit had fallen on the people, and they would be able to speak in the language of the place where they arrived. This did not happen you had missions to India and the people were lost, unable to make out basic directions much less preach the gospel. just as other cults and religious fanatical teachers the religion then changed to suit the craziness, and it was taught that this was an angelic tongue. The gifts of tones is not a real gift folks. It was at one time when it was needed for furthering the gospel but it has since passed and has not been recorded since 150 years of the church that is 150 AD. Now there is another gift in the Hindu sect called the kundalini where people jump around and babble it is when the third eye is opened this is demonic.

I am 57 years old and I was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues when I was about 17 years old. Are used to have a key to the church. I attended back then from the pastor I would go right to the church after school, I was an 11th or 12th grader around that time I would go into the church by myself simply just to pray and praise. It would get to the point where I literally heard the sound of a rushing mighty wind , and then I would go and I praise dance. This happened around those ages probably five or six times maybe more. But for a season it happened every time I went to the church and prayed, I know it was the same sound that was heard on Pentecost just an incredible thing to experience. It hasn’t happened to me ever again! when I first was baptized in the Holy Spirit in a Friday night service after everything was over I went home and I had the most beautiful dream of speaking in tongues . It was such a beautiful language that I’ve never heard, and that dream happened before I actually spoke in tongues.

God blessed me with this gift at a very early age. The latest experience I had was that I was speaking in Tounges in my dreams and woke up continuing to speak in tongues. After a few minutes, I went back to sleep. I had a car accident that day. The Holy Spirit was prayig for me, because I did not know that I had to pray that prayer. Praise God, the accident was minor because of the way it happened, but a few more inches difference could have been a disaster and this is why the Holy Spirit was praying. I can't imagine my life without the Holy Spirit and my Jesus

I've only heard tongues in a Pentecostal church. I was taught differently about 'speaking in tongues'. Pastor Allen explained it so beautifully that I cried because I have all the same thoughts that he mentioned when he was praying for the eighty year old woman at the hospital. I saw me in all your examples in this study. I often pray to God that I don't know if I'm praying correctly. In fact, for some time, I have been troubled with my prayer life even though I studied Pastor's series on Prayer. But, as always, God has blessed me by coming to show me the path to follow. I have a clearer understanding of prayer and of the Holy Spirit and I don't feel troubled any longer. Pastor Allen, this teaching was so valuable to me and I am so grateful. Thank you.

I listened to this whole teaching and I thank you for the clarity on the importance of prayer. It seems you have confused what Paul was trying to get over to the church of Corinth in his letter rebuking them, and paralleled it with Romans 8, which speaks nothing of tongues but implies that when we don't know what to pray for in time of infirmity the spirit HELPS TO PRAY, not speak in tongue. We cannot add to or take away from what God has put plainly right in front of us. A strong prayer life doesn't come from tongues but comes from spending time talking with God daily and communicating with HIM for everything. Just like a marriage, the more you communicate with each other, the closer you become, as one, as God intended. Thank you

God is a spirit and those that worship him must worship in spirit and truth. when one receives the baptism of the Holy Ghost one only needs to praise God and let the spirit pray for us with sounds that no man can duplicate as we do not know what we should pray for as we should but the spirit himself makes intercession for us. Paraphrased Romans 8: 26, 27

In Acts 2 the evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost was tongues. People heard of all nations their own languages. God takes over our most unruly member the tongue at rebirth of the Spirit. Pastors in tongues have told men how to be saved in Spanish and other languages....God uses them mightily. Repent and be baptized in the name of "Jesus Christ" and the gift is promised to you. Gather, Son and Holy Ghost are Jesus' titles...not his name. ACTS 2:38, Matt. 28: 19...in the name of Jesus said...not plural. In Acts all baptized in Jesus name. It's the name of Salvation. Tongues is proof we got the gift also. Praying in tongues as we don't know what to pray for always. God guides our mouth.

@@TheIrishMegaphone true tongues of the spirit does sound like gibberish that no man can understand. It is more sounds than anything that we can deem as words. It is the voice of the spirit speaking a heavenly language. People think in terms of the ways of man and expect it to sound as similar to earth languages. now the gift of tongues is different than our prayer language. It is earth languages spoken through us to someone that we don't know their language. we will be speaking our language but they will hear their own.

I have no idea what am saying (and at the beginning so many questions crossed my mind, and doubts , like "what am I saying???'). But then you just surrender, in the intimacy of your room, and you KNOW that language is holy and behind your knowledge. So you just surrender to Him. Back in 2008 I did what Paul said and alone in my room I was on my knees loving GOD and was groaning my soul was groaning then slowly my mouth started forming words in an ancient language I heard what sounded like an old woman’s voice speaking through me. It was amazing and tears were streaming doen my face and I felt the glory of GOD surrounding me. I felt it was my soul begging GOD to forgive me. I didn’t want it to end. I walked around in awe for many days. I thought I could read without my glasses but no I still needed them. @@selahchunem8447I was aware of the Holy Spirits' presence around me and was filled with the Spirit before i ever recieved the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. Thats why John made such a point of saying that he baptized with water, but he that would come after him would baptize with the Holy Spirit. A believer must fervently pray for the Lord to fill him with the Holy Spirit until He answers their prayer and does so. Then they must surrender their tongue to the Holy Spirit( When it happened for me i just opened my mouth and relaxed my tongue). Continue to do so until the Spirit confirms that you have recieved the Holy Spirit by enabling you to speak in the spiritual language that our English translation calls " tongues". What do you have to lose by trying it ? Speaking in " tongues" is the only sign given un scripture of believers recieving the Holy Spirit when they recieved. This is going to upset some for saying so, but those who teach through intellect rather than the Spirit, usually are the one's who aren't Baptised in the Holy Spirit. As such there's always 'something they don't understand' when it comes to Scripture. Why? Because they're relying on self and or what other's have taught them....instead of the Holy Spirit (as is His job and one of his attributes).

Do not throw the baby out with the bath water. All humans are imperfect. The larger Christian world doesn’t believe in the spiritual gifts. Take what is good from preachers sermons and lay the doubtful into God’s hands. I am not a Calvinist theologian but Pentecostal by personal conviction and experience. I listen to different preachers, study Scripture, read and compare, pray and wait on answers, and continue to treat other Christians of opposite opinions with consideration where possible. As I grow older I have become more and more aware of my own ability to be wrong or misguided in my thinking. May God bless you with patience for our imperfections.

I know by experiences for I am a Bible freak, and at every opportunity according to my income I purchase Bibles. And I can tell you about that experience that the other translations there are so many verses and portions of scriptures that are eliminated completely translations distorted from its original meaning. In 1967 when I was 8 years old ...my family of eight, with two children still in diapers, lived in a small 10ft x 80ft 3 bedroom trailer. It was so cramped and crowded, there was no where to turn. One night I listened to my parents anxiously discussing how we needed a bigger place, and I knew my Mom was truly stressing about it. That night during a thunderstorm as I lay on my top bunk bed... I prayed fervently for all my family and then... Asked God to find us a bigger and better home. Suddenly, while I was praying my mouth was taken over by another language. The words were precise like a true language, or maybe even a whole new language. The words flew out of my mouth and I had no control over their utterance. (Looking back, it sounded similar to the Aramaic language.) Then while still speaking, a lighting bolt hit the tree across from my window... and that jolted and blinded me to stop speaking. Not knowing any better... I thought God was angry at me for speaking like that! The next day I tried to tell my Mom what happened, but she insisted I was dreaming. And said she never heard a lightening bolt hit that close. I went out to look at the Cottonwood tree across from my window, and it had been struck! I pulled her reluctantly outside to see it for herself. She wasn't impressed... but that was because my Mom was too preoccupied with child care, cooking, and cleaning. She had no time for my nonsense. Just days after this my Mom said, "We are moving into real house." It was the nicest house we ever lived in! I said to my Mom, "See! God answered my prayer." Yet I had no idea what really happened to me that night... since I knew nothing about speaking in tongues. It wasn't until years later, I learned about what had actually occurred. That special night God gave me his Holy Spirit even though I was just a child. Jesus gave me this gift because of my child like faith that night.. And I believe the bolt of lighting was his exclamation mark! I don't feel Tongues is something that can be forced to happen, it just happens. When I was baptized at 13 it happened again in a similar way... suddenly. I believe speaking in Tongues requires the Holy Spirit being present...since I feel it is the Holy Spirit that is speaking through us. It obviously does not happen to everyone. And it does NOT mean you do not have the Holy Spirit within you... IF it does not happen! God gives his gifts the way he wants to... Just as no two lives are the same. As Paul said, we see the mirror cloudy from our viewpoint... We are not capable at this time to understand all God's reasoning... Someday... when we are called home... we will.

From childhood, I attended a denominational church that taught that the baptism of the Holy Spirit was only for the early church. But in my thirties, God gave me that experience. I shared that with members of my church. The people accepted it but the pastor and deacons did not. "He's gone off the deep end". They were very "chilly toward me". Listening to the pastor preach shocked me, for for the first time I realized that what he was saying had no life in it. I went home very disturbed. I went before the Lord in my back room. I began to sing in the spirit-in tongues. I saw in my spirit a man travelling across a barren land of just sand and rocks. He had stopped for the night in the shelter of a wall-like shelter of piled rocks. He was thanking God as He sang to Him for leading him to a place with water. I looked and water was flowing from the rocks. The Lord said to me "I will be your founntain of water".

That is also what it took while I was lying there bleeding for me to tell God I was sorry and to please help me and I have been studying daily and listening to his words. I've been listening to living Waters ministry also and many others. Don't know why I'm sharing all this with you but you seem like well... you've seen a few things? What I believe after listening to both sides of the isle. * The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised to us. * The gift of the Holy Spirit is worth waiting for. * The gift of the Holy Spirit comes as He wills, often not according to our expectation. * The gift of the Holy Spirit can come upon not only individuals, but also upon groups * The gift of the Holy Spirit is often given as God deals with the flesh and there is a dying to self * The gift of the Holy Spirit is not given according to formula. * We can not earn the gift of the Holy Spirit by our seeking. ¶ The Gift of Tongues: * Languages that they were never taught, and they spoke these languages, speaking as the Spirit gave them utterance. ¶ The Purpose: * Given as a sign to unbelievers * a Gift of communication between the believer and God beyond the limits of knowledge and understanding * The purpose of the manifestation of the Spirit is to benefit the whole church family, not just a particular individual. * The purpose of tongues is not to prove that we are “filled with the Spirit” or to prove that we are especially spiritual ¶ Groaning * The Groaning of the Spirit is not the gift of tongues * As the creation and believers both groan for ultimate restoration, the Spirit does as well. * This work of the Holy Spirit parallels the high priestly work of intercession by the Lord Jesus on behalf of believers

Your advice is good. The broader context is that of the whole book. The Corinthian church was a well established church which had gone astray and was misusing the gifts as they strived for position and prestige while ignoring blatant sin. Just as bad was their neglect of the poorer members of the church. Paul’s call is for them to set aside personal agendas and misuse of the gifts while coming together in unity. Paul didn’t wish to curtail the use of gifts, rather he desired correct understanding of their purpose. Above all is his admonishment that love reigns supreme that God’s Church not become a mockery. You did well to remind us of content and context as the basis of study. Blessings.

I ran across your channel a few weeks back. I believe there is a great awakening happening in this country, maybe the world. I grew up Baptist and I’ve had one GREAT preacher that I loved and preached messages with knowledge, like yourself. Allen Lockerman from Cleveland TN was his name. He retired a few years ago and you’re the first preacher I have found that resonates with me. I wish I could attend your church and would if I lived nearby. Please keep doing what you’re doing!

Let me share a dream I had in March 1991: It was around 4 am, when all of a sudden a bright flash of white light flashed all around me and I woke up and saw a HUGE ANGEL hovering over me in my dream! Everything was exactly as it was in my bedroom and my peripheral vision was almost 360 degrees! At first, the bright light startled me but mainly the HUGE CREATURE hovering above me! He was beautiful and very muscular with a gorgeous white satin gown with a gold sash around his waist! He must have been at least 12 foot tall and I could see the large top part of one of his wings! As soon as he knew I was no longer afraid of him, he retracted up into the ceiling which became fluffy clouds. He then extended his right hand towards me, as to be greeting me! Then he SPOKE TO ME IN THIS VERY STRANGE LANGUAGE!!! It was just SOUNDS COMING OUT FROM HIS MOUTH and I said to myself “WHAT KIND OF LANGUAGE IS THAT?!?!” But here is the interesting thing: I UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE WAS SAYING TO ME BUT IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!! IN MY OWN MIND I RECEIVED THE TRANSLATION IN MY OWN LANGUAGE!!! That’s how I believe the Jews who received THE UTTERANCE FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD SPOKE AND all those other Nations received the INTERPRETATION in their own language IN THEIR MINDS/EARS!!! It’s SUPERNATURAL EXPERIENCE!

My family background is Mennonite Brothern , but my folks moved from the community of Luster, Mt, before i was born, attended an Assembly of God, for a time, then became Nazarene, and in 56, i was 2, Dad became an ordained minister and started his ministry at Miles City, Mt. As you know they are of the believe that tongues were a past gift. They had quit the Assembly church in Glasgow as mom was at the alter praying, and a lady next to her at the alter broke out in tongues. Now mom knew the lady as as nice lady, so she was sure the lady didnt realize she was cursing in german. Mom knew as she grew up with german as her first language, as was dad, and it was still spoke at home. She couldnt believe the Holy Spirit would have had someone cursing, and the result was they switched to the Nazarene church. There was more to the story, Dad was treasurer of the church board at the Assembly. He didnt disbelieve in tongues, but had not spoke it. The pastor told him if he didnt, that he needed to resign from the board. At that wed night prayer meeting , he told all the books, to the board meeting and handed the pastor his resignation, . This sermon of yours today is the best I ever heard on the topic, and made me stop and reconsider. I haven't been a Christian all my life. I strayed greatly for a time. I think maybe I've even sang in tongues. I'm a truck driver over the road, and love to sing gospel, traditional Christian, and country music going down the road, and have caught myself singing all of a sudden in a language i dont understand, and was beginning to thing maybe i was singing in tongues, i just kept doing it when the feeling came over me but didnt know. I was the title to your topic, and almost skipped over it, as i normally did, but something (Holy Spirit) had me click play. When you mentioned the singing, it brought tears to my eyes. I enjoyed your teaching very much, and still have tears in my eyes, as I'm writing this comment. Sorry i got so long winded. Have a blessed day! You just blessed mine!

You can know God‘s will by reading the Bible. God gave his word so that all might know him and believe. It’s an instruction manual for those who seek his will. Think of it this way if God gave you an instruction manual would it be wise to ignore it and keep asking him for personal teaching? When you don’t know the Bible meaning seek wise counsel for further explanation God is faithful and will reveal his will to you.

@@mkaealcThere's an awful lot of scripture in the Bible. The question is, which verse is the one that God says applies to the situation that you need to pray about? You could hazard a guess and be completely wrong. You could arbitrarily pick the first verse that comes to your mind, based on your human intellect and reasoning. But scripture warns us not to do that although that's exactly what we do. When you ask the Lord and you hear from the Lord, then you know which scripture to apply. Or if the Holy Spirit gives you the utterance of tongues, then it's not going to be anything less than 100% the will of the Lord.

I just came across this video teaching and it is outstanding! I've been working in the fullness of the spirit for nearly 35 years. If there's one teaching that I could point someone to that would have a concise yet comprehensive understanding of tongues, I would refer them to this video. I'm only 25 minutes into the video the only thing that I would like to add would be regarding tongues also being used as immature prophecy when it comes to tugs and interpretation. It actually may be included later in this video or when he talks about prophecy. But I like what I see so far. I only would like to challenge one small part. I do believe that is acceptable for the congregation to worship and pray in times as an entire conversation. I do not believe that it's violates scripture as referred to in the video. So I'm about 92% in agreement with what pastor Nolan says here. That's close enough to perfect for me :-) Pastor Nolan you're a good man.

I was not asleep I hadn't fell asleep and I remember my body dropping like somebody just let me go and I was trembling and moaning I was recuperating from it and my daughter she was shaking my face and screaming my name, I sat up in the bed and it was like a few minutes past 2:00 a.m. and it took me a great while to comprehend that I believe I just spoken tongue!! LOL but I just don't know what the Lord had said to me because I was always taught that someone had to be around to interpret it but anyway around 9:00 a.m. my daughter walked into the kitchen and she looked at me and said Mommy I saw Jesus last night and you were floating in the air😮!!!! Now I know I was not floating in the air I was still seated but my arms were up in the air so in her little mind she thought I was floating but she said she saw Jesus that was the most powerful thing that has ever happened to me I just wish I knew what he said to me❤

@@tanyamerry2736 We were all taught to speak in tongues & that is the problem. While I attended the charasmatic church I was frustrated the Holy Spirit didn't come on me with the gift of tongues so I ended up doing like they said " just mimick us". Never did I feel the Holy Spirit urge me to speak it I just did it if I felt like it & knew that was wrong. They had classes for it which I didn't attend. My wife attended the gift of prophecy class and as everyone sat silent & pastor just said when you feel like it just prophecy. When I'd go up & pastor would lay hands on us everyone would fall except me until I started to do it on my own so not to embarrass the pastor. Not once did we ever wittness a healing. All too often strange things happened where people followed each other into falling on the floor in laughter, then it was barking like dogs, whatever was the newest thing on TBN. Even as a charasmatic I could not feel right with Paul & Jan Crouch in my Spirit. Then one day after listening to the tithing scripture message I noticed it was incorrect & the Holy Spirit grieved in me to leave & never return. That church split, became another charasmatic until it later split as seem most of them do. Today as an independent fundamentalist Baptist I let God be God. I am not resistant to the Holy Spirit coming on me to do anything even if it were to speak as the Spirit gave me utterance. What is most important to me is daily reading & study of HIS Word where He opens my eyes to things I've never seen or comprehended before. Leaving that denomination relieved me of so much frustration & confusion always stuck on the gifts rather than GOD's Holy Word & teaching. I will let HIM do as HE pleases with me. Last I will just say that in that decade of Charasmatic teachings I have seen so many ship wrecks of faith & families. When someone is fixated on a women in the church where God told him that would be his wife yet she marries another man & has children but he has faithfully waited anyway, another left his wife & family for another women because God wanted them to join another charasmatic ministry & do the Lord's work. All things are given to us in HIS Word & if it doesn't line up then we have not h3ard HIM.

No man can be his own teacher in regard to the soul's eternal interest. If we are daily looking unto Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, we shall come to correct decisions. We will make straight paths for our feet. We will be following on to know the Lord. The Lord Jesus says, "I will be your teacher. Learn of me, for I am meek and lowly of heart. I will be your light." "Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart." Psalm 97:11.12 We need more than human wisdom to know how to act, how to speak, how to pray, how to give counsel. Do you think Satan wants this school to be carried on where his word cannot be carried out, where you will perfect Christian characters? Does he want that? Every student here has an influence, and there is an unconscious influence that surrounds every one of you. It is as poisonous as hell, or it is from Jesus Christ. The fragrance of Christ's character makes you a savor of life unto life. We want Jesus to abide with us, and we open our soul temple and invite him in. He says, "If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. There is the promise, and the condition. Can you do just as you please and think that you can come to Christ at any time and ask Him for anything that you want? No, you do not know how to pray. What we want is to know how to pray intelligently, how to speak intelligently and how to live intelligently as in the sight of God and the whole universe of Heaven. And God will help everyone of us. We need not to be destitute of His help, for God will give us grace upon grace. WHAT ARE YOU ASKING FOR WHEN YOU BABBLE??? The spiritual education of the child begins in the home. The mother, as the first teacher, should teach her children how to pray, by having them repeat a simple prayer after her. The Saviour dwells in the homes of those who teach their children to pray for His blessing to rest upon them. The saving power of the grace of God will be given to such fathers and mothers. - When Jesus was upon the earth, He taught His disciples how to pray. He directed them to present their daily needs before God, and to cast all their care upon Him. And the assurance He gave them that their petitions should be heard, is assurance also to us.CSA 26.4 Jesus Himself, while He dwelt among men, was often in prayer. Our Saviour identified Himself with our needs and weakness, in that He became a suppliant, a petitioner, seeking from His Father fresh supplies of strength, that He might come forth braced for duty and trial. He is our example in all things. He is a brother in our infirmities, "in all points tempted like as we are;" but as the sinless one His nature recoiled from evil; He endured struggles and torture of soul in a world of sin. His humanity made prayer a necessity and a privilege. He found comfort and joy in communion with His Father. And if the Saviour of men, the Son of God, felt the need of prayer, how much more should feeble, sinful mortals feel the necessity of fervent, constant prayer.

Update: I did finish the last 13 mins and he only cover half when the Bible talks about people will think we're crazy. I'm so happy he said that. Looks like there's a part 2: the interpretation of tongues. I'm going to go listen to that and I pray to God he is honest about it. I do feel as though his heart is in the right place. I subscribe to this channel yesterday, because I listen to two of his sermon on aliens. I believe he clearly gets that they are the fallen angels. I'm happy he covered science when it. Some understand the spiritual world is another dimension. Of course you'll never find a teacher that you 100% agree with. I praise God that God knows our hearts. I do love that this pastor does understand Greek/Hebrew, so we can get clearer translation when it comes to the interpretation of the word of God. I also follow Corey with Smart Christian Channel who also knows Greek/Hebrew and I've learned so much from him as well. The verse he's talking about when it mentions groaning does not mention tongues at all. I feel as though it's being forced. Everywhere else in the Bible that mentions tongues mentions tongues. Even when Paul talks about talking in the tongues of man or angels it sounds like he's driving the point about love. That's the only time something like that is mentioned. When you see how Paul talks, he talks like he's saying things to drive a point. Hyperboles; it's not meant to be taken literally. I'm almost done listening to this sermon and I really pray to God he talks about the order of speaking in tongues. The Bible is very clear no more than two or three people and it must be interpreted. People say they do it during prayer that's between them and God. But when you are in the mist of a bunch of people and no one understands what you are saying you only edify yourself. The gifts are to edify and build up the body. If no one understands the so-called language you are speaking you must follow what the Bible says and be quiet. The scriptures are very clear and we don't have to force anything. Some things cause confusion and can drive people away. If an unbeliever comes into the church and everyone is babbling it makes us look crazy. The Bible is very clear on the scriptures about that. Just look it up. I have 13 minutes left of listening to the sermon and I really hope to God he covers these things. Let's be honest about what the word of God says. I praise God that tongues is not a heaven or hell issue.

I'm 62, bought up in the Pentecostal movement as a child. I have always felt that if I didn't speak in tongues I wasn't truly saved! I only read a couple of weeks ago in Corinthians that tongues was a gift! This has freed me! I do want the gift, but it has weighed on me for years! I heard people speaking in tongues every Sunday all my childhood, then someone had to interpret, which Alan didn't really cover in this podcast. I just feel free at the moment, that it is a gift and not every Christian may experience for whatever reason! That's may understanding at the moment!

Can anyone miraculously “speak in tongues” today, in the biblical sense? Absolutely not! Since no one can speak in tongues in the biblical sense, then obviously what people who claim they can are doing something other than biblical tongue speaking. Therefore, should we encourage anyone who thinks he can speak in tongues to go ahead and do so anyway? The answer is NO!

@@kac0404I agree except I do let GOD be GOD. If HE put the gift on me & the Holy Spirit empowered me to do so itvwould happen. Doing it on my own as I prayed & waited for the Spirit to take control of my tongue was a mistake. I knew it in my heart when the church said just blurt it out & of course you have heard it from all the others so you mimicked it. Always seemed like the word Hyundai started it off. I am sure that there are those that are vessels for GOD that are used to heal or even speak in another language but it is no way like the charasmatic & pentacostal church

@earlwhite3760 In the epistles, speaking in tongues is discussed only in I Corinthians. It is listed as one of the “spiritual gifts” in I Corinthians 12:10, 28, 30. Paul mentions speaking “in the tongues of men and of angels” (I Corinthians 13:1) in comparison with love, pointing out the absolute necessity of love. Then the apostle plainly teaches that the miraculous spiritual gifts, including “tongues” would pass from the scene when that “which is perfect is come.” “Love never fails; but if {there are gifts of} prophecy, they will be done away; if {there are} tongues, they will cease; if {there is} knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away” (1 Cor 13:8-10). When the full revelation of God’s will for man was complete (the Lord’s last will and testament) then there would no longer be any need for the temporary measures designed to assist the early church in its infancy. But while the church was in its infancy, and before God’s revelation was completed, there was a need for special help to be given by God. This need was supplied by the exercise of the spiritual gifts.

So important Romans 8:26. One of my favorite verses. God is so mindful. Therefore he gave us the opportunity to pray for the things that we don't even realize we need. Praise God in the highest! We are covered Praying an intercessory prayer! God made Provisions for us again! What a wonderful thing! Praise Him!
