Amazing comparison! I'm still partial to the smaller A10 bell, which just happens to create the closest thing to how I imagine a trumpet sound, in my mind. The thick A3 is so cool when pushed hard. How it doesn't break a sweat and stays as thick as peanut butter. :)

Thx, Giulio. I agree that the small A10 bells has a great pure trumpet sound. I’m not sure I’ll pick that or the A3 bell over the other … they are both winners to me!

Thanks for commenting. I kept flipping between the small A10 and A3 bells as my favorite on the changeable bell trumpet, probably because they were the most different from my A4 LT-S with the big 5.5" bell. Did you like the A10 big or small bell better? What trumpet do you prefer to use and what about it do you like the most?

Great comparison! How does the playability of the Adams A4-LT compare with the Da Carbo?

Thx for viewing and your comment! Both are ML bore and the A4 LT-S is my absolute fav horn (it is so flexible to play and I have more confidence with it). It has a more open blow (and more than most ML horns) while the Unica is a bit tighter (more back-pressure… if that makes sense). While playing, the Unica sounds brighter, while this video surprised me in the core and warmth of the Unica. The A4 and A4 LT-S have a much wider wrap and are more comfortable for those with big or long hands to hold, while the Unica is more traditional/typical in wrap and how it feels in your hands. The Adams valves are great and have never let me down (never sticking in a gig), while the Da Carbo valves are the absolute fastest I have ever played. I am highly impressed with both. The A4 changeable bell is brand new to me. I’ve had an A4 before, so I already knew the weight would be much greater than the other 2. It is not a problem or issue to me. The bells are easy to change and I think the horn plays very well. Personally, I like the 2 smaller bells compared to how the A10 5.5” feels so far. I don’t think I could play the A4 LT-S in the section of a big band because it wouldn’t blend. The DaCarbo or the A4 with the A3 5” bell seems to be a better option for that. I also really like the way the DaCarbo sounds with a tenor sax in a jazz quintet. They are all great horns … it is a great joy to have them all! Which sounds the best to you and why?

I’m biased, as I’m an A4-LT player as well. Such a great horn, with a wide potential of sounds And it’s good to hear your thoughts about the A4 with other bells, and the Da Carbo. Indeed, all great options!
