If I'm thinking of the same video as what you are describing, he was President at that time. there are different levels of security depending if you are President, former president or the parties nominee (I believe those are the different levels). Since he is not the current President, he wouldn't have the same security as he did when he was President.

Based on the video I saw, which the witnesses informed the police of the guy climbing the wall, it was only about 30 seconds until you hear the first shot. I think that blaming the police or Secret Service for this is a bit hasty. However, it is ALSO being reported that the Administration and Party trying to REMOVE Trump's Secret Service Detail in Congress, ALSO has been denying REPEATED requests from the Trump Campaign for MONTHS leading up to this. What's even more suspicious is that it takes a significant amount of time for the attacker to prepare to shoot. So how did the bodyguard not see him or why did he wait for the attacker to shoot? It also takes a long time for people to get seated and for the event to be prepared for the speech. The Secret Service should have been stationed there beforehand and had the entire area under surveillance. This incident is suspicious. In my opinion, the Secret Service, Trump's bodyguards, and even his sniper need to answer questions. The sniper bodyguard had a clear view of the attacker from the beginning.

isn't there some sort of "code yellow" if a situation is uncertain?? i mean, something is going on that needs to be checked on. taking the protected person aside should be a matter of seconds, than check the situation. i want to know, how it's possible that a suspicious person has been reported before, and numerous witnesses tried to contact security. from that moment it should taken seconds! not first trying to figure out if its serious or not.
