DeSantis spent $4,200 per vote in Iowa. He was polling at 30% before officially entering the race and he finished at 20%. He spent a massive amount of money just to lose a third of his support. I kind of get what Nikki was saying about it being a two person race because she didn't put much of a focus on Iowa and still finished right behind Ron. Ron went all in and came up with a pair of twos.

Very true. While I like Seth and the show, he's feeding into what made Trump a big player in the first place. I can hardly remember "A closer look" that wasn't about Trump. It's infuriating that Trump gets so much attention and also very repetitive in terms of jokes. The news channels also should stop reporting every detail for hours and hours. This is the real reason Trump is attending all the hearings and sessions in person, though he doesn't have to. It's keeping him in the news constantly.

It's odd to me how many people think that works. It's never worked. Seth and his team are responsible for creating jokes and finding humor in the absurd landscape that is our lives. The truth of the matter is Trump and the entire MAGA hoard are absurd, and we need to acknowledge that and dismantle it without fear. Staying silent does nothing but give cover for them to work in the shadows where they will do even more damage. The reality is A Closer Look is more than likely going to cover politics, and Trump is a major political story, no matter how repetitive you may find the jokes or Trump himself. If it frustrates you, you're welcome to skip the segment going forward, but what I do know is that ignoring Trump and not reporting the news about what's happening in our political sphere is *NOT* the answer. And if you hate that idea, well you're in for a long 2024 because you're going to hear about him a lot. News channels are a different beast because their job is to tell us what's going on, not to find humor in what's going on. And how they go about that is a fair criticism that deserves attention and adjustment. But we are not where we were in 2016. The shock regarding Trump's behavior has been replaced with disgust and contempt. Btw, I believe the last time A Closer Look wasn't about Trump it was likely about the GOP-controlled House, DeSantis, Greene, Boebert, Lindell or Giuliani. So just as absurd, but fairly easy to remember. I'm not sure why you can't recall.

Apparently Trump said ‘if you die voting for me it’ll be worth it’ which sums him up pretty well.

I at first wondered why the judge didn't do more in response to a lawyer failing to uphold courtroom procedures. But then I realised, doing more than just scolding her would slow down the proceedings, which is the only rational reason for her to act that way. There's just way too many irrational reasons for her to do so. And by rational I mean kind of, seeing as trying to get disbarred isn't going to help her future job prospects. Though she can't have many left after this. "Aren't you the incompetent lawyer that *somehow* performed worse than the drunk lawyer?"

To be fair (and I can't believe I'm saying this) to Nikki and Ron, this was actually a pretty embarrassing showing for Trump in Iowa. In 2020 he won the caucus with over 97% of the vote. This year, despite essentially running as the GOP incumbent, he scored just over 50%. Nearly half of Iowa Republicans didn't want him, as opposed to less than 3% 4 years ago. This actually suggests he's in a bit of trouble.

DeSantes is the epitome of why I will never return to FL, and I was born and (mostly) raised there.

seth is a genius. we watched him for so many years - many, many years - without seeing he was this funny. that is the funniest thing he gave us.

How I wish we had video from the courtroom to watch Alina Habba be told to sit down, her reply that she doesn't like to be talked to in that way, and the judge again telling her to sit down. I would never stop laughing at that.

Habba wants the trial shut down on Thursday because SHE wants to attend WITH Trump ... she knows (like most) that he tends to listen to the person who was last in his face. That was apparently a big problem when he was in the White House: they had to limit access to him because whatever nutter spoke to him last could set Trump off on a destructive tangent. I'm sure Habba knows that if she's not there, SOMEONE is going to be in his ear about replacing her as counsel ... or about her being his next wife ... or who knows what...

Just imagine any of us would act like that in a courtroom. We would've been held in contempt imidiately. This disgusting sex offender gets treated with kid gloves. THAT, my dear republicans, is a two tiered justice system.

Yeah you really have to dig into demographics to see the details. Either way he still secured a massive amount of delegates regardless of how many voted. People would have to be pretty deluded to not see Iowa as a massive victory for him.
