You're literally like a big brother we never had, to all of us who are planning to the US for their higher education. Thank you for clearing the air on this topic which has been used as a clickbait by so many media outlets and has been used as a variable by negative Nancys to demotivate some of us. Thank you 💞💕

this video is optimistic propaganda. Talk with your seniors on h-1b, who were lucky enough to win the h1-b lottery in the first place. Ask them how long they have to wait for Green Cards and the compromises they have to make and the lack of ability to move to another job. These are serious questions you should ask people who have gone before you. Do not comfort yourself by just believing what you hear on this youtube channel. Be well informed before you start playing the F-1 - H1-B to GC game. Believe me, it comes with lots of challenges and no promises for a sure shot outcome. I have lived in the US for 10 years, but then again you would probably not listen to a word that I am going to say. So anywayz all the best and have a really really thick skin, if you ever come to the US, to brush aside all negativity unfair visa rules, and constraints that will come upon you once you start playing the F-1 to H1-B to GC and finally USC game.

The maturity, amount of research, hard work, understanding of the problem, and understanding the need of it's viewers this channel has has blown me away. Parth I cannot understand but envy how, even with a small bracket of target audience, have you been able to grow to such exponential milestones. While other channels have stopped creating content and have started thrashing their audience because of *a very busy* lifestyle, it has been very very inspirational watching you produce this content. I myself am a SAT - 1590 undergrad aspirant, whose basic aim while subscribing was to understand the lifestyle in the US. You, sir, have forced me to watch your master's series too (in which I didn't get half of the stuff btw). Your delivery, execution, talking, although has grown a lot in standards since your first videos, has still made me feel at-home. Thank you so much Parth! You are a fucking monster.

Another fact is that Companies are ignorant about the rules to be honest. Major OEM’s do not hire OPT candidates even with good academics/experience. If you check out jobs on Linkedin you will see jobs that mention US citizens only, not willing to sponsor. I have got repeated calls from recruiters stating Im a great fit for the role but we cannot sponsor and offer a position. About CPT- you cannot work off campus without completing 2semesters ( excluding summer) and the job off campus must be related to your coursework. Doing any job other than this is termed illegal and you will be subjected to deportation. Also during your OPT,you get exactly 90 days of unemployment after which you need to leave the USA. My advice to students coming to the US please have at-least 2 to 3 years of experience in your field to boost your chances.Understand that contract positions (your best bet) are for experienced persons and entry level position are ALMOST impossible to get. Hope this helps someone, especially those coming here by taking student loans. Know exactly what you are going to face as its not a cheap place to survive and your shoulder to cry on is way back home in India!

I'm in US. I can definitely say there are some subtle but definite changes in the mood of the officials in the USCIS according to the declaration by the president. Don't be placated by this video. I know many of my Juniors who went back because companies wouldn't sponsor h1b because they are unsure what the policy will be under the present administration. This of course is if you're hell bent on getting a good job (not jobs as consultant) and internships. But, fortune favors the brave. If you feel strongly about this don't let anyone stop you

I've read the DISCLAIMER, watched the video and DID MY OWN RESEARCH. It was the much-needed video for the time where many of us are confused about what exactly is going on regarding the job scenario in Trump presidency. It turns out that media (news channels, newspaper) is over-generalizing this " H1-B visa" issue as a whole. 1. Current Rule is for people who are done with their onsite jobs and staying in the USA beyond the time they were needed. 2. This Rule is not affecting the current grad students who pursuing their masters. 3. Currently, on hearing the discussion of the prospective student about the job scenario getting harder than before, it is same as it was in 2016 and 2015 as getting a job was never easy for immigrants in comparison to their citizens. 4. In the USA, it is not just applying to jobs and waiting for the recruiter to call. It takes certain preparation (Building your Strong resume, Networking with people, Approach recruiters on LinkedIn).

Southern California Edison/ Los Angeles Beginning in August 2014, Southern California Edison began replacing approximately 400 IT employees with a smaller, lower-paid workforce brought in from overseas through the H-1B program, according to Computerworld's Patrick Thibodeau, who has reported extensively on this issue. The original employees, who were forced to train their replacements as well as sign nondisclosure agreements and gag orders, were making an average of about $110,000 a year. The replacements were brought to Southern California Edison by outsourcing firms Infosys and Tata, and were paid an average of between $65,000 and $75,000, according to depositions in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing spurred by complaints about the practice. Disney The happiest place on earth made headlines when it announced in October 2014 it was laying off many of its IT workers and replacing them with outsourced talent. The firm attempted to spin the move as a "restructuring" that would increase innovation and allow U.S. workers easier access to management and leadership positions. As in the case of Southern California Edison, Disney IT employees also were responsible for training their replacements. Perhaps because of the headlines and the public outcry surrounding the, uh, 'restructuring,' Disney announced in June 2015 it was rescinding the layoffs and canceling its plans to outsource those jobs. Pfizer Connecticut R&D In 2008, workers at pharmaceutical giant Pfizer's New London and Groton (Connecticut) research and development campus raised the alarm: They were being replaced by Indian workers on H-1B visas and forced to train their replacements. Those outsourced workers were scheduled to return to India, where they will run the same systems as their U.S. counterparts, albeit at a cheaper rate and with diminished benefits. The move was part of an outsourcing agreement signed in 2005 between Pfizer, Infosys Technologies and Satyam Computer Services. Molina Healthcare In 2010, Molina Healthcare announced it was laying off much of its staff. The announcement took place on the same day the U.S. government approved forty H-1B visa applications for the company; a lawsuit and legal battle ensued. The suit alleged that the fired employees, all of whom were U.S. citizens or green card holders, were fired as a cost-cutting measure so they could be replaced by cheaper, less-experienced foreign workers, according to the Boston Globe. The fired Molina employees were earning an average of $75,000 a year, plus benefits; the new workers, brought over to work on H-1B visas, earned $50,000, with no benefits. Infosys and Tata Noticed a pattern, yet? The same large outsourcing firms keep cropping up in relation to these scandals. As Ron Hira, an Economic Policy Institute research associate and an associate professor of public policy at Howard University outlines in this blog for the Economic Policy Institute: "These two India-based IT firms specialize in outsourcing and offshoring, are major publicly traded companies with a combined market value of about $115 billion, and are the top two H-1B employers in the United States. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2013, Infosys ranked first with 6,269 H-1B petitions approved by the government, and Tata ranked second with 6,193 … these leading offshore outsourcing firms use the H-1B program to replace American workers and to facilitate the offshoring of American jobs … they don't use the H-1B visa as a way to alleviate a shortage of STEM-educated U.S. workers; they use it primarily to cut labor costs."

These visas were originally created to educate third world students to the standards of the Western world and then send them back to their own countries; so that they can build their own countries up from the inside out. There was a TREMENDOUS fear of creating a, “Brain Drain”, on these countries- from students wanting to stay in the West and just get rich and leave their countries of origin by the waste side. It is EXTREMELY SAD that there are SO many loopholes in this system that allow them to evade and relinquish their country of origin and SO MUCH INFORMATION out there that encourages this behavior. Especially now with the fluidity between varying classes of visas that encourages citizenship in the West, over the country of birth. ALL sides are losing now. The countries of origin are losing their intelligent elite, equally qualified Americans are losing high paying jobs, and the people applying for these jobs are getting paid less than half of what their American counterparts are being paid, without ANY benefits - and they have to struggle financially in the US and are also put in fear by their American employers if they EVER even think about complaining. Sure one can complain. But by the time the process starts rolling, the applicant can not afford a lawyer to follow through or they get deported before their case is EVER even heard. And sadly, a lot of applicants get secretly, “Blacklisted” by their employers and are dumbfounded when they cannot secure work in such a short period of time. The only winner here are corporations saving as much money as possible and maximizing profits. So sad for all involved.

You're videos are very informative and especially very on point. I'm planning to apply for MS in 2019,and this whole Trump thing was very discouraging at first. But all this information really helps to understand the actual situation and not the media side.

On the negative side, due to all the hype, companies are not willing to hire on cpt/opt as well as even on h1b for that matter as they dont want to get into the troublesome documentation and high filing charges. My brother is in US and he told me so. Now even I am having double thoughts.

That is the actual truth. Even though there are no official changes. But, the uncertainty of the coming changes or the news that's going in the news is making companies not consider CPT/OPT students as they require sponsorship in the future. If someone is coming with a huge education loan and if they don't get any funding here. They would be graduating with a huge debt and no companies willing to hire them except the consultancies. It is the same situation happening with my friends. It is taking with them almost 6-8 months to find a job through consultancies too. For that whole 6-8 months you would be living without income and loan payments coming up. It is a hectic situation. If you get full funding from your university, then it is a great country for experiences.

One thing was still not discussed. There were rumors that we must have $120K salary to be considered for H1B (the present one is $65K). Point me out if I'm wrong.

There was a proposal put it senate where the minimum salary was 120k$ however, the bill hasn't passed yet. Every proposal needs to be passed as a bill in the senate for it to be law.
