I recall when President Trump was in office he wanted to get rid of NATO and he caught a lot of problems for saying that. Wasn't NATO created as a defensive alliance against the Soviet Union? And didn't the Soviet Union cease to exist in the early 1990's? Didn't Breshnev promise George HW Bush that NATO would not go one inch East of Germany? What happened to that promise? Did it die with the last American president in the past 3.5 decades to do any military service?
