Truly 4C: UPDATE! Suggestions for Itchy, Smelly Scalp

Here's an update to an earlier video where I asked for help for my scalp condition. Since then, I spoke with a dermatologist who gave me advice, and now I'm more excited than ever to show you quick and easy videos to wash, condition, and style 4C hair.

Thank you for sharing this! I’m in the exact same place as you and like you said my main problem is that I I do not have the time to wash and style my hair more than once a week. I’m thinking the best solution for me would be to find a natural anti fungal / pre or pro biotic scalp serum that I can use daily that will support a healthy micro biome on my scalp. The smell is a sign that there is an imbalance of over populated bad bacteria. I’d be very interested to see how you find the leave in “foam’ your dermatologist suggested. Good luck on your scalp / hair care journey, I hope you find a solution that works well for you. Looking forward to future updates.

I understand! I’m going to make a video soon but I’ve been trying the medicated shampoo and it seems as if it’s nothing more than a regular shampoo. So I still wash my hair every 2-3 days but I do want to try the foam, but my insurance doesn’t cover it. It’s $75 with pharmacy discounts. I’m going to talk to my dermatologist again for alternatives

@@ChineloMariano sorry about the medicated shampoo. it’s definitely going to be a trial and error process, keep your head up we’ll find something that works! 75 dollars with discount included is daylight robbery, don’t trouble yourself that yet. I’m currently looking into the curl smith scalp range that has a three step clarifying process along with a day and night serum which has some pretty good reviews with the purpose of creating a healthy environment for the scalp. Another product that i’ve seen is the Vichy Dercos Anti-Dandruff Shampoo which comes in two variations; one for normal to oily hair and one for dry hair and formulated with 1% Selenium disulphide and 1% Salicylic Acid (not sure if you’ll have this in the US?). How long have you been washing your hair every 2-3 days and how has your hair reacted specifically? Does it feel dryer/ more brittle or does it feel softer and fluffier, or have you experienced no difference at all?

Omg, I’m just seeing this now, so sorry for the late reply! I love how detailed your comment is ♥️♥️♥️ Yes we will figure it out together!! It’s been a good 2-3 months of washing so often but guess what?! I’ve been able to go 4+ days now!! YES, I KNOW!! I’ve been massaging glycolic acid in my scalp and omg the DIFFERENCE!!! I posted a couple of videos on it! You have to try it and let me know!!! Also, I switched over to using Head and Shoulders. I’ll post a review after I try it for a few more days. So far so good 👍. See you soon!

Hey! I want to thank you for your videos!. I am currently going thru the same issue. 😩 How often do you use the glycolic acid in your scalp? Also which head and shoulders do you use?

You’re very welcome, I’m so happy it helps! I can make another video on it, but basically I put glycolic acid on my scalp whenever it starts to get itchy or smelly and massage it in. I do it as often as needed until I can’t anymore lol. So far, I’ve been able to go nearly a week without needing to wash! (and that was because the itching became too much, but there was no foul smell!)
