Used to see Robben in the group, perhaps his first, with his younger brother in a very small club in Palo Alto, California in 1971. He could not have been much past his teens, if he even was. Whenever we see him, now (or in the future), we get a view into enlightened, advanced, trancendental skill, craft, art. He is never less than active, growing and vibrant skill, craft and art. Thank you all for this time with Robben.

Finally, the enigma [for me] around who was that masked nylon string jazzer who played on Pop Pop! It said Robben Ford on the liner notes and I thought "really?" Then I went through the stage of....wow if it's Robben he's even greater than I had previously thought. And then to have the story behind the album from the man himself today! What a blast......Robben you have my undying appreciation of what you achieved on that album...particularly under those circumstances....what a pro! I'll never hear Pop Pop the same way again. BTW I especially love the acoustic re-imagining of Up From the Skies.

He's still the go to guitarist for melodic changes and superb technique. And the nylon string insite just confirms up his greatness on the instrument.

That phrase that goes into feedback at 10:50. Wow. Wow! That was hella sweet.
