I really like the Helotes, Stone Oak and Castle Hills areas. I’ve lived in New Braunfels for 14 years now. Having lived in multiple states and cities. But New Braunfels is simply an awesome little city. By the way crime has never been an issue for me or any of my neighbors here in New Braunfels. No one talks about crime here because it isn’t an issue. I mean, yes it happens but it seems so infrequent that no one is preoccupied with it. An unruly Drunk tourist is what this little city usually deals with.

Yes! Totally agree, with the tourism comes some issues but over all New Braunfels is a great suburb! There is so much to do for everyone too

Good video and thanks for showing the NE side some love LOL. I just moved here from Denver a few months ago, and knew nothing about San Antonio other than the Alamo. Most of the YOuTubers I saw were touting west and NW and Stone Oak for whatever reason. When I would fly down here on the weekends to look around I decided to build NE; I'm off of I-10 close to Converse (I have a Converse address, anyways). I"m in Judson ISD, which I hear is not bad. There is a MAMMOTH newish looking high school on the other side of my master planned community so I'm assuming the schooling is decent (I don't have kids so wasn't a dealbreaker to me). There is tons of new development for under $300,000, and it's quiet. If I want night life I am literally 18 minutes from downtwon/The Pearl. Since its still new and rural I have to drive to either east SA or the Forum for Target and major shopping but that's fine. But again, this is the first video that I saw that gave this side of town a little love-I think it's great as well as being a lot cheaper on average than the other areas the other folks were really steering folks to.

That is amazing! The Northeast side of San Antonio is definitely a better pick for cost of living, traffic, home appreciation, and your wayyyy closer to areas like the pearl, just as you mentioned. They are building out Seguin and New Braunfels and 35 corridor too. Thanks so much for the feedback!

I live in San Antonio and I was thiiiiisssss close to talking smack about how none of these are actually San Antonio until I saw the name of your channel 😂 I get it, y’all aren’t coming here to live in San Antonio, you probably just want a short commute to a job and a good school for your kids. I’ll say my piece anyways cause I feel like I gotta get it off my chest. Garden Ridge and Castle Hills just don’t provide the same sense of pride and community that San Antonio does, nor do they provide the same quality of services and infrastructure. Alamo Heights residents are probably the only residents of the incorporated cities which would actually tell an outsider that they’re from Alamo heights rather than from San Antonio. New Braunfels is it’s own thing entirely. I think that if you’re the type of person who actually wants to live in suburban sprawl then DFW is probably a better place for you to land. Being a San Antonian comes with a unique pride in our place in history and our tejano culture. San Antonio is a big city with a strong identity and if you don’t jive with that then there’s better places to be.

Well said! I agree about about pride and community in San Antonio. People of San Antonio are very proud and there is lots of great communities around San Antonio. Alamo Heights is very exclusive lol but with all the in migration it’s definitely changing the demographics. Oh man to me DFW is a mess with its big city life. The suburbs to me are even more exclusive and I don’t know enough about the culture in the city. Thanks for sharing Dereck!

I used think I wanted to move to a Garden Ridge gated neighborhood, but then I went to neighborhood party and was turned off by the loud Vietnam wives who married military men. I’ll stay in my little Terrell Hills home where I love my neighbors lol

@@valcox2073 I live downtown and I wouldn’t be caught dead in either lol. I grew up in a wealthy gated community and went to a private school, and I think living in that kind of bubble seriously stunted my social development. I know my parents probably wanted the best for me but that upbringing fostered an irrational fear of things like urban crime and homeless people that took me years to get over. I want my kids to know all their neighbors, to feel comfortable walking to school, and to grow up playing in the downtown streets like my grandparents did. Downtown isn’t cheap but me and my fiancée live close enough to everything we need that we can just walk/bike everywhere, or occasionally take an Uber/bus if we need to go somewhere further out. The money/time/stress savings of living car-free is well worth it.

I’ve been living in San Antonio for 2 years now, the safest neighborhood isn’t on there. I live here in the Dominion and it’s very secure… friend of mine lives up in Anaqua Springs Ranch and it is also very secure and quiet… I’d say these are the top 2 neighborhoods to live in if you can afford it.

Hey Quincy! The topography of the house usually determines if houses have foundation issues. I don’t think Schertz has it worse than anywhere else but the closer to the flood zone areas the more likely it will shift. Foundation issues are common through all of south Texas tho

Castle Hills is a VERY beautiful town with everything you just said. The homes are all custom and well maintained. My favorite part of Castle Hills is the local food (Viva Pho) and the HEB has lots of local and organic groceries. Yes, i-10 now has HOV lanes westbound and eastbound from Boerne (Pronounced bur-nee) LOL to San Antonio with no tolls! It definitely helped the flow of traffic
