@@urszulawojcik4347 their taxes are very low, about $400/yr. They can easily sell some livestock to pay that off. That's what we do on our farm (Texas). Property taxes are usually much lower out of city limits, of course depending on property size, home size, and any exemptions like agricultural or homestead.

They got property taxes...

I lived off the grid as a kid with my parents, we had a chemical toilet brought in our water had gas lighting and a wood stove. I loved it and I can't wait for the time when I'll be able to return to that life again. It's funny how it is now called being off the grid... when I was young it was called being dirt poor, LoL.

I have seen "many" tiny homes, but this one is something that actually caught my eye if I were to go tiny! I love the different structures...garden, beehives, chickens, etc...natures! Love it!

I sort of agree. I don't want to go tiny, but this minimalist and individualist style really appeals to me.

This lifestyle with no electricity is not for everyone. But they look genuinely happy and content. So cheers to this couple.

Personally, I think he flunked history in school. MANY people who went westward could read and write. They were journalists, teachers, writers and artists, not the illiterate masses he refers to several times. He and the wife walk the walk, but I think they both still have a lot to learn. So far, he appears to have contracted out EVERYthing, including the furniture. but he goes around giving lectures on his lifestyle?

Not only did they go off the grid, they basically went Amish. I like how the Amish were teasing them saying they wouldn't last. LOL

I watch Doug and Stacy all the time. I wish I could live like that. I have a house in town and I have been prepping. I make my own soap and cleaning supplies, I bought a Sun Oven and use it some. I have got stockes up on food. The freeze dried food. Now if I could get rid of my electric bill or reduce it some I would be good. I am debt free. I was 76 years old when I retired last year. I saved up enough money to keep me going. Hope everone has a good week.

I'm from Northeast India and I hate living in the midst of concrete jungle. Fortunately I have land in my native village, and I'm fully preparing to become a farmer soon. Don't care what people may say, gotta fight for my own freedom.

Of course, it helps that they started off very, very well off. So any problems or issues they had/will have can be covered by what I can only assume is at least a decent investment. As they get more experienced and settled in, their labor hours and overall cost is only going to go down more. Pretty damn smart couple.

I believe that people are searching for the type of life we were meant to live. You feel more fulfilled when you can see the profits of your efforts. It’s a healthier way of life because you eat better, work harder, and appreciate more the little things in life. 💕🥰

This sweet couple have one of the best homesteading channels. They are modest but they are both great teachers and share so much knowledge! She is such a skilled cook, so healthy and knows a great deal about food preservation and herbs. He can do anything! Glad to see this interview!!

Wow, first I have to say Doug & Stacy are an amazing couple. They have dedicated themselves to a way of life and they are sticking to it ! Their home is lovely.....I can't think of a nicer home to spend time in. Their farm is amazing as well. I like how they put the different outbuildings and areas close to their home, because they are looking to the future when it will be harder for them to get around. I believe, Doug & Stacy have a lot to teach us about how to move into the future. As for me, I think I would have to have some solar panels so that I would be able to stay up to date with family & friends, On the news, a way of calling out for help if need be. Such a beautiful homestead. I would love to live in mother nature an out of the rat race. I know it's not easy jumping backwards like that but if your ever lucky enough to figure it out like this couple has then your truelly blessed like they are.

Yes! This was a real plus. When someone has only lived in a tiny home for a few months, everything is all tidy, but not all is worked out. Seven years is pretty much fully worked out!

This is like confirmation for a couple of things, I have been thinking and planning (with saving money and cutting my budget a lot to save), to look for land, maybe not (10) acres , I was thinking more of (2 - 3). Absolutely beautiful, my idea of paradise. That is the kind of life I have always dreamed of having, simple, healthy, stress free. Self sustaining and minimal impact on the environment. I would probably have some solar power though so I could have fans and air conditioner, and gravity fed water can be a bit tricky with no pressure so a pump would be good. I love the wood stove, they are wonderful for baking but not real practical in the summer. I guess it’s easy to cook outdoors in the warmer months and fresh salad is delicious when you pick the vegetables and then wash it and eat it straight from the garden.

Depends where it is. Since they have no public utilities at all and if they are in an unincorporated area, it's possible they don't.

I want to live like this. Good Couple who are doing the RIGHT thing.

Watched alot of tiny house videos and by far this is one of my favourite. Everything is so natural. Remind me of the era i wish i was born in. I am a melenial. If lumber was as cheap in my country 🇯🇲 jamaica. Id definately do this

I love Stacy and Doug’s shows so now seeing their home and history is indeed a treat. Beautiful people who make everything look so easy! I continue to be amazed by what they do. It’s lovely to see your whole home. Thank you for inviting us in to your home and your life.

in Russia we call it "Dacha", about 2/3 of us have a house like this one as a second\vacation home. Retired people may spend up to 5 months a year living like that.

In America n West they do chest thumping about such small things.. They think they are doing a favor to humanity by living organic.. As if we all care.. PS : they pushed earth to its limits by ideas like consumerism industrialisation development etc now suddenly they turned environmentalists.. Now they want ppl living in third world countries who just show electricity in 21 century.. Suddenly give up everything and compensate for West's wrong doings..

@lohit raj ooooo YES! preach it! i mean i am not trying to hate to much, but as they said they ran the rat race, saved their money and got out....it's as if they discovered something new and they want pat on the back, forgetting that it took an immense amount of money to get started. they are basically country hipsters. what a hybrid. i could go on forever.

Never count your blessings as ordinary 🙏 After being homeless my husband n I were blessed with a motorhome. We don't have running water or indoor plumbing but having a safe place to sleep is truly all one needs! God Bless 😇❤
