the production team were able to borrow 3 real Harrier jets and their pilots for many shots in this scene. We see 2 jets, but there was a third on standby in case of issues. The jets were based out of MCAS Cherry Point. I think the production paid around $110,000 to the DOD for the use of the jets.

As a teenager many many years ago I visited the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum here in England and was lucky enough to be able to watch a pair of Harriers practicing for a low level display, right next to the museum building, There is still no other aircraft that can do those kind of manoeuvres, all the more remarkable when you consider it first flew almost 60 years ago

Okay, so as an 80s kid, I feel like I grew up in the best era for film. Way less CGI, and so much creativity to create amazing shots like these. True Lies has always been one of my favorites. That said, can I just say how annoyed I always get at the truck blowing up? A super slow fall about 30 feet or so, and the truck immediately explodes into pieces. Sure, you can argue there were explosives inside, but really it's just Hollywood being Hollywood. They put so much work into the realism of the Harriers and missiles, the scale models, etc, and then they go and do that. LOL. Even so, it's still one of my favorites. :)

Destroying the bridge seems excessive and unnecessary...except that it's an action movie, and that shit happens all the time!

I dunno... When you're trying to stop multiple nuclear bombs in the hands of people _very_ willing to use them, I'm not sure you can call much of anything excessive.

Underrated? It was massively successful and launched Arnolds A List career, created Jamie Lees comeback and introduced Tia and Eliza Dushku. It's one of the most famous and iconic movies ever made.

Not many people know this, but 9/11 was a direct response to how disrespectful this movie was to terrorists, portraying them to be a bunch of trigger-happy murderous morons.

Again wrong decision by the U.S force . Let the poor small trucks pass the bridge and then arrest them all, easily. The cost of the damage of the bridge is way higher then the few boxes of drugs. Unbelievable

  • @VTSteve

Well, that was smart, blow up a bridge costing many millions to repair rather than putting Missiles just on the trucks. Still Jamie Lee Curtis was smoking hot then and still is !! Only reason I clicked on this vid to be honest!

Yes, dropping a couple of feet onto almost always causes trucks to explode at the first contact with a hard object.

The missiles in the truck might not react well to that kind of handling, it's not like anything was properly stowed.
