Yay for Luna. Buster says "of course she won. She weighs less. It's harder to lift 15 lbs than it is to lift 9" Both did great. I loved the bloopers especially when Luna knocker over the toilet paper stack. Great contest and great video

That was great. Luna lost, not because her tail is “too fluffy”, but because she doesn’t pull her tail erect like Buster. And the bloopers were priceless. That’s a great new addition to your work. Greg is like Buster. Greg will play and jump and chase his favorite toy to a certain point. When he’s done he just lays and his side, and I have to pass the teaser over him so he can grab it w/o getting up.

I actually didn't think about the difference in their tail posture until you said it, but you're right! If Luna would just lift her tail more, who knows how high she could jump? ;) I'm glad you like the Bloopers! I usually get so many bad/funny takes so maybe I should include those more in the future. Greg's behaviour is spot on how Buster is. It seems like they really could be brothers. If you want to share how he looks you can upload a picture of him as your profile pic.

I love the way you're so devoted to these magnificent creatures. You know that their inscrutable and superior brains are instinctively performing calculations to succeed in their objective. There was a video somewhere on YT that showed a black panther (I think) jumping across a swamp between two outcroppings about 50' apart. It looked totally impossible. He took his time getting his body positioned and crouching just right and ... he made it! Not a drop of water!

Great video, love the bloopers. Luna is amazing! It's funny, my 2.5 yr old blue smoke tortie girl will just carry on training etc until I stop, but her 1 yr old red smoke son (adopted separately) gets bored after a while and lies down too. We're only at the paw/almost high five and the walking through a 3 inch off the floor hoop so far, though, your videos inspired me to start with the hoop! Tempted to go out and buy a pack of toilet roll later on 🤣 Will you do a video at some point on how you train them/how often etc? I'd love to know

Thank you! It's so nice that you want to train your cats too. It's really fun and they can do a lot more tricks than people think 😁 Sure, good suggestion, I could try to make a training instruction video or something like that. But give me some time to come up with a good idea on how the video should be like. For your bored cat it could work better to just train him in several shorter sessions instead of a long one. You also need to give them some really nice treat when they are good 😺. And keep doing small steps at a time like you already do! Some people use a clicker to train, but I don't do that. I think It's hard and distracting when you have several cats around.

Thank you, take all the time you need! I agree on the clicker, tried with my girl before we got her son, but other things in the house click so she just ignored it or got confused! We do tend to do three short sessions a day but he's less treat motivated and a little slower to respond than she is so she steps in to do the skill and confuses him a little, and then after a bit he tries to steal her treats without doing the work! I do tend to stop when he's losing interest because I don't want him to get bored of the whole thing and there are only so many treats she needs to eat (although she claims otherwise). I think I might need to train them separately more often, hopefully it will be easier next week when the plants in the dining room go out for summer, currently for agility I use the long open plan living room but I can't shut him in a room without a human because his original family didn't deal with his high prey drive and hyper personality well and shut him in a room alone all day so he has trauma from that. We've only had him 6 weeks and her 3 months, maybe he just needs a little more time!

I think you are doing everything right so just do it like that and they should be able to learn lots of things eventually! Sometimes it can take weeks without any progress and then suddenly they do the whole trick in one day.

How do you teach your cats to jump?

Start with just making them walk over a stick on the ground, then increase height more and more. One important part is to teach them to understand a sign or a gesture from you to make them walk/jump over the stick. If they want it, they do it. If not, then not. And Luna has a too fluffy tail for this challenge!

Example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqyGpK2mmNa0maQ.html They have not enough time at the moment for new videos every 2 weeks, but i hope it will change. I regret that i had no video camera as i had my cats, they did so much funny and crazy things avery day.
