I still think even those who do not own their own, still dream of owning…and having no capital gains tax on their primary residence.. i could go along with a capital gains tax (like the US) if i can deduct all mortgage interest and home/property improvement cost from personal income..problem would be where do you start? There are people who have owned for several years and made improvements already.

I would love to know how they figure homeowners make money on their "investment". Mortgages are paid with post tax dollars. The cost of borrowing, even at historically low interest rates, basically doubles the purchase cost. Homeowners are a sizeable contributor to municipal budgets. We already pay those taxes after paying our share of fed taxes. Homeowners also pay to keep local tradesmen and suppliers in businesses through maintenence costs, renovations, upkeep.... And after we pay those bills, with previously taxed money, we can add PST, HST a/o GST. Insane they think they are entitled to more...

I fail to understand why the property tax is so Exorbitant!!
