I have been among them since I was 9yrs old u no scotch London markets Manchester markets lorry’s woodhead snow But I never bothered with my having I turned out to be a cat shovel op when I grew up lorry’s in front of me all day like been at truck fest now 75yrs I will not forget them days
Lovely to see an old Guy and Commer snuck in there. Many company names have disappeared over the years but, thankfully, Elddis are still around and, as smart modern trailers are, little can beat a roped and sheeted load.
Proper trucks from my past, so good to see, thank u, know quite a few of those hauliers to, wow, memories bought back, well done, brilliant job on this

You're welcome james 😀 😊 and thank you for comments my friend 😊 🧡
I always loved the 1980s Seddon Atkinson 401 tankers that supplied the local stations to me from the fuel depot in Belfast. They were in mainly Jet, Texaco and BP liveries and they were some of fastest and well driven wagons around and were always spotless. The DAF 3300 and 3600 with the Space Cab was a very rare and delightful sight back in the day. Ah, one of the early ERF ECs with the door handle in the muck. Fair play to ERF, they sorted this out quite quickly by moving the handle further up the door. Simples. Those Volvo F10s always got you home. That Ergomatic Octopus with the little sleeper extension was starting to think about the long distance driver. Excellent video.

Thank you Sean 😊 🙏 and for sharing your memories ❤️ 😊
More great pictures, used to see a lot of Roba vehicles around Harlow in the late 70's/80's, where they had a depot in Burnt Mill, which was follow on from W M Wood of Enfield, although in the newer plain blue livery. The Elddis F88 also looks good, jut like a Corgi model I have.

I had an old F88 and anF1220 which in the day was a big girl, 330 horse and 12x20 tyres, it would pull up a house side but had a low diff for heavy work. It was a good time, just at the end of the period when no one was tracking you and you could still fill your log book in for the week, waiting for Sunday dinner.

They had character, especially F88s, these new motors are blandcpared to the old motors.

@@ChristopherWalker-mp8by I could tell almost to the minute how long it took to certain places. The old 88 was my favourite of all the motors I have driven. Every thing was exactly where it should be, the range was on the gear lever like most were , the splitter was a little lever on the centre console but perfectly placed. The air wipers were fun, mine wouldn't work most of the time and I had a stirrup of thin rope fastened to the mechanism and I would have to peddle like hell to keep the window clean.

After nearly 30 years doing own account I went back to general, first thing I learnt, ........I'm not 30 any more! But I did enjoy the variety, glutton for punishment.
When Men Where Men
Two of my old photos here I put on trucknet years ago. The two Dafs, Transcontinental and Roadtrain were owned by two subbies from Cardiff, Eric and Alan. The John Raymond Volvos were in a batch of photos I had given to me as a youngster. There was a few other pics on trucknet of them I put on as well.
