Sir, you did a great job. I have the same truck and engine. This helps a lot, a little remark though ...it would be easier putting the turbo back on if you would remove the bar that holds the radiator... keep up the good work.

A little tip. If you would clean the are where V clamp goes and put a grease lightly, that would help a BUNCH. I changed my turbo about 7 years ago and now it’s time to do it again. Thank you for your video

Well it’s not that it’s a super hard job to do , the biggest issue is it’s time consuming , and this can ruin your day off .
I messed up pulled the oil tub out of the sleeve and now it leaks . I hope I can fix it without tacking the turbo off .Great info you give tks The new manifold gasket blew out before I got to the stop sign the turbo side flange was not flat I had to sand it flat

@@allywilkeforsenate it’s hard to say what I would find buried in my driveway I don’t keep junk around , but my home was built in 1958 , that’s back when people had to do a ( weekly service) to their cars . That was really a thing too .
I been hearing that lately but not so loud yet. Also my turbo has been whistling quite loud lately when it kicks in

You may want to check your egr valve rod with the shutter to see if it’s sealing up . This will wear uneven, causing the turbo to make a strange sound .
Hi, was wondering if you knew if a truck needs to reprogrammed when changing turbo. Truck has GR eliminated and when it got turbo replaced it won't work. Appreciate your help.

If the new turbo doesn't have a speed sensor on it.. then you gotta have a new program put in. There's more to it than that but thats the short answer.

When you buy a turbocharger for your vehicle any store that knows what they are doing will ask you for your vehicle vin number , so when a new turbocharger comes in is will already be factory set to your truck the way it was when the truck was new . You really do not need to adjusted the turbocharger at all , and if so it’s very little . Now in saying this , if you do upgrades to your emissions system yes you will need to adjust it . If you put a turbocharger on that does not belong on your truck like a different style, then yes you will have to adjust it . But you will need a computer to plug into your truck , with a program that covers your turbocharger and vehicle, otherwise you are risking damage to your engine, transmission, and complete driveline due to changing the torque and horsepower of your engine.
Good that you noticed that because it will cuz the exhaust manifold get cracked because of the Vibration

Everything is turning black on mine now that’s why I’m watching this video so maybe it’s the gasket

Could be , but any part of the turbo system can make sounds if it’s leaking . Let me know what you find . I also have a video showing how to pressurize the system to check is with air

Replace the o-ring and gasket.
What’s the part number on that stud? Can’t seem to find it

Well you may want to call a dealership with the last 6 of the vin numbers of your truck , these can be different sizes due to having different exhaust manifolds . Just make sure to ask if they are a high grade steel , these you do not want to go cheap on .
Great job 👏 Wondering How much do you save on labor cost 💲
@Starkeyfamilyfixing

The last time i went to a dealership to buy something , their rates were at $150.00 per hour , so i am guessing on just this job alone a min. of 2 1\2 hours labor , then they charge a fee for them to use cleaners , rags , gloves , ect. even if they do not use any for a min. of $20 , the gasket is cheap $3 to $10 . now if the studs on the manifold need changed those are around $12 each for 4 .Then if they brake anything then you get charged for that too ! With me working on my own equipment , i only have parts to buy and my time to waste doing the job !
Truck stop "techs" don't do as good of a job as you do.

purgeface100 I know , sounded really bad up close , I was thinking that the turbo, bearings may had been going out . If so a turbo like this one costs right at $5000 without a core , and $3200 with a core . And that’s just for a remanufactured ( rebuilt ) turbo , not a new one . This is the 3rd turbo I have had on the truck .
