Truck Shell Camper Inside Shower

Ойын-сауық

A fully functional shower on the inside of my truck shell. I use this during colder weather or when an outdoor shower is not feasible. This also may be good for a van build. I will show how to build it and how it works.

    I keep looking at this video while I'm making my build. I decided to use the "Really Useful Box® Plastic Storage Box" from Office Max along with your drain idea. I even found the stool that you used and I plan to store the shower as a kit under my bed. Man your idea flat out rocks! Thanks for the idea!

  • @geenote

    @geenote

    That sounds great. I ended up using a shorter piece of drain hose which seems to drain better than using a long hose. I think it's because the diameter is so small. If the waste water doesn't completely drain it is easy enough to slide the pan out of the truck and tilt it to completely drain. An outside portable shower is what I use when possible but this method is a great option when needed. Thanks!

    Great video! I use a “pig trough” from tractor’s supply though a small cement mixing tray is basically the same thing available at Home Depot or Lowe’s or other hardware stores. It’s about 24 x 36 so it will fit in the walkway better (I don’t have open under the bed) you can drill a little hole in this to add a drain like your setup. Then you can use the tub to store things while traveling like dirty shoes or whatever. I really enjoyed your video!

    This is pure genius! Thank you! I know me- those hooks in the ceiling would eventually catch my hair or something else. While I was thinking about it, I could attach some sort of pipe clamp or d-ring to the ceiling and make a "shower hook" by gluing a bead large enough to the end of a nail or strong wire then bend the top over. The bead doesn't let the hook fall out of the hole and removes and stores easily.

  • @geenote

    @geenote

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you Tina! I really like the way you think! Instead of hooks you could keep it easy and simple by using Velcro glued to the ceiling and curtain. The Velcro is plenty strong enough to keep the shower curtain in place. Let me know if I can help.

    That is a perfect solution for van and truck dwellers, easy to set up and dismantle, with privacy and room to properly shower. May I suggest an idea? to have the drain hose to the back seat area of your truck to drain in a container that way if you are in a public place you can contain the water and keep the law away from you and if it is freezing cold it would not create ice sheet where you or other people can fall and get hurt. Thank you for sharing. Semper Fi

    Had similar idea. If I could find a shower pan with higher sides I’d do it. I’m fickle about the possibilities of water splashing out. I bet the arse washing aspect is the toughest as ya gotta remain limber and squat. It’s the hot water I most concern myself with. I’ve seen those usb 12v pumps which seem like a great idea but ya gotta be close to water source. Thought about boiling water and pouring into gravity bucket but again height inside always issue in a truck. I’m trying to perfect something like this in wintertime currently 20 degrees in New England and liquids are freezing in my truck cab let alone in a bed cap scenario. I did see one guy turned the very back of his minivan into a lined shower area with drain and a shower bag.It was literally walled off like a separate tiny room.I tell ya people tap in to their very creative sides when survival needs occur.

    There are various size plastic pans out there. If you use velcro to secure the bottom of the curtain to the pan, water will not splash out. The pump shower filled with warm water doesn't have much pressure to cause much splashing either. Thanks for sharing.

    My truck bed is 6 1/2 feet long. When I get a new truck it has got to be at least a 6 1/2 foot bed. I also recommend an extended height truck shell so you can sit on the bed without hitting your head. I'm only 5'7" and still need an extended top to be comfortable and sit on the bed without hitting my head. My truck shell is old and they are no longer in business but there are plenty of similar shells. The windows are cool but I kind of wish it didn't have so many to make it easier to insulate. I also see used shells on places like craigslist for sale all the time. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

Do you have any ideas that he could get up in it.?? If I got one of those luggage carrier's that hook onto the bumper hitch, do you think it would stick out past the tailgate enough to use as a step??

    I think it's all ingenious except for the shower pan. Why not use a tote or large bucket like a muck bucket for horse stalls? When not in use for showering, dry it out and use for storage of bulky items in back of cab or corner of camper. There is just too much risk of spillage. Plus if you are a female you can use the accumulated water to shave your legs. There is a lot of desperation amongst campers for showers. I'm 70yo and didn't know what a shower was until my teens. They were not standard in many houses. We bathed in the tub and hair was washed in the kitchen sink. You can get clean sponge bathing or by using buckets on a park bench. Or you can take a blowup kiddie swimming pool and bathe in it on warm days. If there is no privacy , then bath with your swimsuit on. You will get just as clean. Like I said, its clever but the pan is too shallow.

    I only have 4 feet of headroom so I need enough room to sit down while taking a shower. An extra large tote would work. My parents only had a bath tub when I was young and I didn't use a shower until my teens either. Thanks for sharing!
