I bought an Aluminum Retrax. The sturdiness, aluminum, and ability to lock anywhere is what sold me. I've had vinyl in the past and it always faded.

303 mixed with armeroll once a year does wonders. Otherwise the YT channel ‘project farm’ has a great rubber/plastic protection video.

To me.....Looks like the Roll n Lock works beautifully. Also considering the Peragon.

Purchased a roll-and-lock in San Diego for my 96' Dodge long bed. It lasted many years for both work and play. with a slight mod to the rails attached a quick release full size truck rack for my work. I liked being able to leave my tools locked under the cover after a long day installing satellite. When on vacation, it protected my camping gear and Reese 20K 5th wheel hitch when parked at an RV park. Just roll the cover back and hook up the 5th wheel.

Great value. Great looks.

The Roll N Lock is the best one because it can be used as a garage door as well as a bed cover

How do these work in dusty conditions? Seems like it would clog up. Can you wash these out?

Hi I have the first one on my truck but it doesn't lock , where can i order parts I check on Amazon and ebay but I don't find anything,

My Retrax cover (not aluminum) has cracks (tears) in a few places. Of course after the three year warranty. Is there a patch kit? or does the whole thing need to be replaced.

Do you have the second for dakota extended cab 1999?

Man I wish they wod have the latch on the inside of cover like the bak flips so that way you don't necessarily need a key. 🤷‍♂️

I love the retracts, but everyone I have ever ordered shows up with the plastic and cap cracked. Why would they make it 90% aluminum and then put plastic and cap on the end of the tub?

I bought a Toyota Tundra that has a Roll N Lock Tonneau Cover on it. It still looks new and is obviously very sturdy and well made. Though I'm a pretty old Viet Vet, I'm certainly not brain dead. For the life of me, I can't open it. I've viewed this video many times but I still can't figure where I'm going wrong? Is there a trick I'm missing? Thanks!

What part can’t you open? The cover will lock to the tailgate.So that has to be unlatched. Just move it up away from the tailgate a couple inches. The cover must be unlocked to get it to slide open. Did it work before? Clean the tracks on the side. Lightly lube the side rails . A dry silicone spray or better yet a dry lubricant Mack’s from NAPA. Works well. This may sound silly but is the latch unlocked? If this doesn’t help. Call Rolnlock.

So Truck2go has the same design but how come they are so much cheaper...?

The 4 point locking on roll n lock is huge for securing valuables. Remember to get a brake peddle lock as well.

It could work but the best brand for your truck would be retrax retractable covers. What is the year/model of your truck ?

I have a 2017 Tundra. The biggest issue with tonneau covers the inability to install bed racks either because the rack verticle rack supports are angled, so tonneau covers like BakFlip can't open, or because for rolling racks, the rack on the bed side covers the mounting holes. Does this rack cover the mounting holes or hinder adding an overbed rack system?

Zak Moore hey zak, did you check out the Yakima truck bed racks? What setup you have right now on your 2017 Tundra

I am interested in knowing if I can use this and still haul several motocross motorcycles in bed of truck. Will it still have access to fit motorcycles in bed when retracted, or does it need to be removed. If it needs to be removed, is that an easy process?

The retrax xr series works with Yakima, Thule and rhino accessories. The tracks are integrated into the side rails. If you are planning on camping, using it for ladder rack, bike racks or any other type of rack system the retracts is hands down the winter for this category. Some manufacturers let you add a rack as long as your rails have enough space to fit where the holes are, but that would be an add-on and not all of them are compatible with that. The retrax has the tracks built in, so you can take different racks on and off and interchange them as you please.

I can't get over the 7" of bed space used up unnecessarily. That's precious real-estate.

Or even the truxedo titanium or sentry hard rolling tonneau cover, which has a removable roll if you need the full bed space. Or the peragon retractable/folding aluminum bed cover that can also remove the panels if you need the full bed space.

I wish they made bed covers like the ones on the Chevrolet Avalanche.

They make a BAKFlip hard folding cover

I would avoid purchasing a RollnLock Tonneau Cover. They have poor customer service. I would recommend a Retrax Pro Series Tonneau Cover.

0:20 and 1:30 both stop anywhere but you sell it like You need to sacrifice bedspace and buy the more expensive one for the feature.

Lock anywhere. Securely stop anywhere. Stop and lock anywhere. So a thief couldn't just roll it the rest of the way open if'n you decided to leave that last foot open for the lawnmower handles or some such. Huge security difference. UuuUugee!!

The roll n lock doesn’t stop at any point on the rail system like the retrax does. But if you can’t afford to lose the bed space yeah the roll n lock is a smaller canister

I have a vinyl cover that rolls up and tucks into the back of the bed with latches. It weighs little, and when closed, it attaches with Velcro to top of the bed rails and locks in place behind the tailgate. No need for drains because water does not get into the bed. It’s lasted me 15 years and cost $500. I have no need to load weight on top of my cover, and it takes up very little room near the cab.

Agree....I used to have one too. That is until some jerk took a knife to it one night in Chicago and took my brand new Ping golf clubs. The vinyl covers are fine if you keep NOTHING of value inside. But security (especially today !!) is a huge thing. What once was good is now really not practical. World has gone goofy.

@@rds990 I used to live in the NE. Anything that wasn’t locked down in your vehicle or your home, would eventually be stolen by some ahole. Has never happened once in the 20 years I’ve lived in the south.

After owning vinyl and aluminum(Ford roll hard top), I can say I would pay 4x the price for aluminum. And I’m cheap. While I can’t speak to this brand, aluminum works and looks 10x better. Just don’t severely damage them, there’s no patching.

@@WontSeeReplies I wouldn’t keep anything valuable in the bed of my truck regardless of the design of the bed cover. I have a console safe where I lock the gun, wallet or her purse temporarily while I shop. The bed can be broken into easily. That’s why I use the fabric/vinyl roll up cover ($600). Keeps out water, snow, debris and prying eyes. Moving south away from the NE states helps lower theft quotient. Had a costly Roll N Lock which got water logged and ate up some bed space. Gave it away.

I had a Retrax Pro on my 2019 F350. Didn't care for it. The non-aluminum hardware rusted and the exterior surface scratched easily. Fit and finish wasn't up to the price (nearly 2 grand).

It can support 200lb. It is not meant to hold that much weight on top. The retrax pro mx aluminum cover supports 500lb on top

I had the roll n lock brand . The cover itself was good quality was good but the HUGE downside and the reason why I sold mine was at highway speeds it would make a rattling noise.

@@TruckAccessoriesPlus you weren’t asking me, but my Ford hard roll never made noise. Unfortunately after breaking several plastic ends(bad windstorm at 80+MPH) it no longer functions. Considering how bad the wind was, I don’t blame the cover. Vehicles were pulling over. I went from averaging 23mpg to 11-16mpg and that was a cross wind, not head on.

Retrax is better material . Roll n Lock the top discolors and fades in AZ sun 🌞

Just got the Roll n Lock, they have options. I agree with your point tho. I had a Pace Edwards with vinyl material and it faded in 4 yrs. So I just purchased the Roll n Lock ALL ALUMINUM cover and happy.

We can not claim they are waterproof. However, each truck bed cover is custom fit. What kind of truck do you have?

I’ve got a Roll-N-Lock and it leaks pretty bad.

But you showed that both locks at any point where it stops...then you proceed to say only the retrax stops...

The roll n lock does stop... They have like 4 or 5 stopping points, I know this because I had one on my last pickup.... What I got from the video is the retrax stops ANYWHERE you want it too, which is not the case on the roll n lock! 👍 Loved my RnL btw!

Roll n lock suck the retractactor eventually goes bad & your screwed basically garbage!!!
