I can''t stop thinking that the most "heroic" part of the theme is for Patroklus disguised in Achilles. Disguised, he is a symbol of hope and strenght for the others, but in his heart, he his ready to lead , fight and die to save his brethren, when Achilles is hiding in his tent for a wounded ego. Patroklus will die, and he probably know it but at this moment, his courage make him greater than Achilles himself. One is the incarnation of the heroic lust for glory and fame, the other is an avatar of civic spirit of sacrifice, the Hector of the Acheans. And all is unfair : the bravest and wisest will die (Achilles, Hector, Patroklus, Priam ...), the sinners (Paris, Menelas, Helen ...) and cowards (Agamemnon) will survive (in the poem), because Gods and life are cruels and unfair. Damn, each time I think about the Iliad or read it, I realize all our European history and culture is summarized in it. I will never stop teaching it in schools.

I couldn't disagree more, Patroklus wasn't brave, he was naive and didn't really know what war meant, he jerks himself about fighting side by side with his "countryman" when he didn't even listen to Achilles who was suppose to mean much more to him. And Achilles wasn't with a wounded ego, he just realize that war was about nothing, he realized it was stupid.

One word that can describe the whole soundtrack ? ~Masterpiece~♡

From my knowledge of history I have concluded that Achilles was a real warrior from my country ( Greece) and the legends were true. He fought like a god in the eyes of his fellow soldiers, he was so fast and strong that nobody could defeat him, his bravery was beyond question and his behavior was compared to that of a child , when they have taken the woman he loved away from him he cried like a child with manly tears . This is the legent of the greatest warrior of Greece. His name is Achilles.

the E P I C music of Howard Shore ,Hans Zimmer ,James Horner make life in those EPIC films !!! So every time when I hear them I remember exacly the right spots and scenes of these films ...this is just Great !!!

Even in this part of the world their decedents can always have a hero to look up to. This song commemorates that part of history. Truly, Achilles has immortalized himself here. His death will not be in vain.

Mavrike 29 Yes Hector was a truly remarkable man, a selfless prince, fighting right in the front lines to defend everything he held dear. Later on he was unfairly pitted against the son of a godess with superhuman speed and strength, considered the best fighter in human history. Still, someone should've told little Paris to leave the pretty girl alone, with her husband, and spare thousands upon thousands of lives in a war that should never have been.

twist ending? Dude have you never heard of Homer's Iliad? There's a reason someone's weakness is called an 'achilles heel'.

Crusader, the book ends with Hector's funeral, not with Achilles' death. Homer never mentions the heel.
