fire video benjie! recently I’ve been really addicted to trout fishing by, spending every few minutes trying to find people who know what they’re doing and you are one of those people. if you’re interested in Irvine Regional park, they are going to stock next week. Improbably going to go next Saturday due to school, but yea. Great video and I’m stoked to see the next one.

Thanks for the comment, dude stocked trout fishing is fun! I actually grew up 2 miles from Irvine Regional and it's where I first started fishing....like almost 40 years ago lol. So I love fishing it now when they stock for sentimental reasons. Tight lines!

hi benjie how much does going knee deep into the water help with catching trout? i usually fish from shore but I always see that you and your friends wear something to get deeper into the water. btw what spoons are you using/recommend?

I'd say having waders is a definite advantage at Silverwood. Sometimes the trout move out a little deeper and it can be pretty helpful reaching them. It's also essential if you want to fish the other side of the lake, a lot of those spots you need to be in the water to cast. Any spoon from 2.2 gram to 7 gram. I'm using Forest MIU's but honestly any similar spoon will get bit. I was using 2.8 and 7 gram this day. Having a wide variety of colors is recommended as sometimes even these stockers get picky and seem to key in on certain patters. Pink, gold, yellow, green, orange and any other variation is nice to have in your box. Tight lines!

What’s the difference between the mirage and dragonfly? Do you prefer specific techniques for each?

I've only used the Mirage a handful of times so still trying to get the best feel for it but I'd say the Dragonfly is more parabolic ie noodly...great for mini jigging. The rod still shuts off and has good power when dealing with bigger fish. The Mirage is stiffer...as of now I think I actually prefer the Mirage as I feel like it gives me more control when jigging and it flings spoons just fine. Honestly I use both interchangeably, they're certainly distinct but both rods can jig and throw spoons well. Also, the Dragonfly is only available as a 1 piece while the Mirage is a 2 piece which might matter for folks with smaller vehicles. Hope that helps. Tight lines!

Thanks Eugene, it's just a matter of fishing the first or second day of a stock. It was ridiculously wide open the first 30 minutes but the rest of the day turned into quite a grind. At least for me...

Yes, Mt. Lassen. Most of the time I lean on my buddies to fill me in but you can follow Silverwood on IG, they announce when they're gonna stock on there.

I’m guessing the last few trout plants have not been state plants as there is nothing listed on the cdfg website. Do you know where to find reliable info on trout plants for Silverwood?

I live in the bay area I’m waiting for surf fishing to open up lol. Went out last Saturday to scout and cast a bit, nothing. Herring chasing and crabbing until late march or mid April now lol.

Hi Benjie- Great video man! The size of those fish was unbelievable brother. Amazing! And I did a but of research and it says online that if a person with a disability would like to come fish and they need help to just call them. So I'd like some feedback from you about this place. Did it look accessable? Were any obviously disabled people fishing? Did you notice if they had accessable restrooms? Also Benjie, I'm still enjoying my fly tying class and if you would like to try to fish with a fly( you can use spinning gear) I would be more than happy to make one.or two for you! Just let me know which ones you'd like to try and I'll tie them and get them right out to you! I suggest trying what's called a Wooly Bugger but look at some videos and tell me what you'd like to try ok. I'd love the challenge of it! Ok brother let me close this book I'm writing. Hi John! Happy new year to you! I'd say Silverwood is pretty accessible for those with a disability. Pretty flat and plenty of space, though the first couple days of a stock get pretty crowded. But definitely wheelchair accessible along the main shoreline. I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying your fly tying class and thank you so much for your generous offer but I don't fly fish nor do I use them. But thank you so much for thinking of me! It was extremely cold to start and then it got pretty hot. The water's still cold tho so the waders still come in handy. Dude Werner, have you fished the Fin yet??

@@BenjieKimFishingso you gotta stay in the water to stay cool. My fat ass starts sweating like crazy in my waiters walking back when we surf fish lol. I have fished fin and feather but no luck. Seems the days I went most were caught in the evening but there’s some huge trout in there. Saw someone with a 9lbs lightning the other day. I also don’t have any of my nice green colored rooster tails or castibles because they’ve snagged over time with Liam fishing lol…reminds me I need to go get some. Those spoons cast very nice btw.
