In this video, World Champion angler and Fulling Mill Signature Tier Luboš Roza walks us through everything he carries in his fly box. You may be surprised to find that it's not all that many flies. However, that's because he has so much confidence in his collection of euro nymphs and dry flies! He's spent so much time fly fishing around the world that he has them honed in. If you don't yet know him, Luboš Roza is one of the most talented fly anglers in the word. He's a two time Youth Fly Fishing World Champion, and holds the record for the youngest person ever to win an Adult European Championship at age 20. He is a true master of his craft. When I had a deer farm in Hamurana, Rotoru, I fished for rainbow trout nearly every night between 22 - 24.00hrs just using one black wet fly (made with black fur from a black cat) and it worked 90% of the nights. Fishing for wild steelheads in Taupo I could get away with just two nymph patterns, Pheasant Tails and Hare & Copper in different hook sizes and and beads. In wet fly fishing I could just use Rabbit flies and Woolly Buggers, again in different sizes and colours and weights. Fishing the South Island for a year I managed with just one box of dry flies. So yes, keep it simple, keep it light, get the very best sun glasses, sun screen and clothing, talk to everyone you meet on the rivers and ask a lot of questions. I am 85 and still learning!
