    You don't need a squirrel in your exhaust to prevent boost, but it helps.

    Extremely eye-opening. Thank you! At 42,000 miles this car has turned into a nightmare yes the one pictured to the left. Transmission lost fourth gear I don’t know where it went it just wasn’t in the transmission anymore no broken case no nothing no leaks from the transmission it just disappeared replaced under powertrain warranty. Full bolt on car I did not buy cheap parts . First specialty vehicle first turbo charge car so I didn’t skimp on parts I wanted it to be right. Cobb inner cooler charge pipes couplers T bolt clamps. Turbo outlet coupler to the charge pipe has been a nightmare finally got it to where it stays on now. High pressure fuel pump went out, in tank fuel pump has gone out this is all before 50,000 miles. Excessive blow by. I put the radium engineering PCV baffle panel and billet aluminum PCV valve that got it down to only using a half a quart of oil every two times I drive the car it’s better if I stay out of boost. Constant misfire problems MSD coil packs and NGK IX iridium spark plugs two steps colder, gapped @ .027”. Stock turbo. Get to cut an access panel to access the damn in tank fuel pump because Ford engineers have to make it extremely difficult for the mechanics to work on the vehicles. I know this because I’m a retired Ford mechanic. In this car is extremely pissing me off. When it runs good it is phenomenal, but it is an absolute temperamental high maintenance bitch. I can’t wait to finish my Mustang build. If this thing blows up or continues to give me problems like it is giving me this will be my first and last turbo car. Very lucky I found your channel. The information that you have put out is wonderful lots of help. Thank you

    2 years late but woah… you got a lemon man. Never had any of those issues beating the piss out of 2 that I’ve owned. As far as the trans goes… if you had a gear before and you don’t anymore due to synchro failure it’s still in there I promise you🤣

    Probably bc youre keeping the pressure in the system instead of venting to atmosphere. I have that exact recirc valve myself. Only reason i got a recirc was to keep the attention of cops off me, they still look when they hear the sound, but its a wtf is that look 🤣🤣

    edgeautosport.com/denso-iridium-power-spark-plug-itv24/ are your plugs. If you are running 2-steps down, I assume you've got a big turbo? Check with your tuner on gaps if that is the case.

    Its probably a dumb question but To check for a boost leak, it would be the hot side and cold side, or just the cold side that i would have to be looking at??

  • @EdgeAutosport

    @EdgeAutosport

    2 ай бұрын

    Hot side and cold side often refers to both sides of the intercooler, since the compresses air is hot going in, and cooler when it comes out the other side of the intercooler. If you are asking about the intake vs. the exhaust sides of the turbo, boost leaks will happen on the intake side, anywhere between the turbo and the intake manifold. Leaks on the other side of the engine are exhaust leaks and can also mess with your performance.

    Check your Boost Controller first, you might have a sticky waste gate so clean that up too and make sure its moving alright. It could also be an issue with a MAP sensor.

    I lent the car to my dad he accidentally put 87 in it and it's limiting boost to 12.5psi and in 3rd it'll go to 17psi but throw out the check engine light that throws the overboost code before when it was on 93 it would hit 17- 25psi easy I have a day running 93 after wasting all the 87 but it still hasn't stopped limiting boost

  • @jesuscarrillo4344

    Two years late but I had this problem myself. It was my waste gate on the turbo. It wouldn't close all the way so that 12.5 psi is really 18 psi but the boost is escaping. Go above 12.5 psi and it goes into limp mode. Sometimes, it will just go into limp mode even making 6 psi which would be 12 psi. Got a new turbo and everything was fine after.

  • @johnboy2436

    @johnboy2436

    Not sure why he hearted your comment and didnt respond, your obviously a first timer wanting a remap. The answer is no.. on a stage 1 remap (270hp -285ish) you shouldnt have any engine issues. Though i cant comment on "your current" engine health before the map. It all depends on the remap but at 270 bhp you will not be running aggressive timing. Id still run it on higher octane fuel, just because you have a tune and to keep knock down. Also dont lug the engine in these cars, meaning dont go full throttle in 5th and 6th.. A general rule is dont go WOT below 3000 RPM. LSPI doesnt occur above 3k on these engines. The answer is NO, you will be fine. Mountune do a 275BHP map standard and its covered by warrenty. So that should also answer your queestion.

  • @EdgeAutosport

    Just depends on the application and what you're doing. It's sort of like changing oil. Some people do it every 3k miles even though you probably don't have to. I still do. The more aggressive of a setup you have, the more important basic maintenance becomes, including spark plugs.
