It would be really nice if your account recovery system wasn't broken.

This entire process is consistently frustrating and more stressful than every other part of process. Each time I attempt a log in the "Saved" information for log in doesn't work. There has to be a better way for the IT people in charge to come up with a log in process that isn't so faulty. Especially when you do not have the same phone or the same email or address since ten years prior . That leaves you with no way to recover anything because the security questions that you know in your sleep don't even work to gain access to fill out a new FAFSA.

As a parent I have attempted over 50 times to obtain my FSA ID. I keep receiving an unknown error message. The information needed is very basic to fill in. I mean, I know my name, DOB, and SSN. Please explain why this is happening... We are ready to submit the application...

This is so frustrating I’m trying to get my FAFSA ID for my child. The Fed Aid number continues to say call during normal business hours,which I am then the system hangs up on me and the website’s chat is a robot who can’t understand simple phrases. I just need my I.D.!!! This is ridiculous.

I dont have the same email or phone number but I can't even get to an option to set up the challenge questions WITHOUT logging in first but i can't even login to do it. This is extremely annoying, especially since the live chat is literally useless and so is calling them considering it just told me to call during normal business hours and hung up even though it's during normal business hours. This system is set up to fail you..

@@danell4700 yes! They answered my call after 30 min thank God. If I remembered correctly. The lady said when you create the email, and it say that the email was already in used, just ignore it and continue. She dain said that your SS will only by you.

Dang when you sign in using the right ID and password and it says an unknown error has occurred lmao it's broken af. I know my username and password I have it written down and a secure picture so I know it's correct but, It's so bad it doesn't work

I cant get any scholarship help cuz this fucking thing just says "account couldn't be found"

This is an excellent tutorial. I have not applied for financial aid since 2011. I wasn't sure if I would be able to sign in or recover my info. This tutorial made it very easy and covered a lot of options and what if this or that. Thanks for making a user friendly tutorial.

Can i change the verified email address? I use either my email or phone number to logging to my Fafsa. I’m having trouble accessing my email. Is it possible to logging with my phone number and change the email address?

To retrieve your username or password, you’ll either need to have a code sent to your mobile phone or your email address, or you’ll need to answer your challenge questions. If you haven’t provided and verified your mobile phone number or email address in your FSA ID account, and you can’t remember the answers to your challenge questions, you will have to contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID. An agent will walk you through self-service options. If that does not resolve the situation you will go through the FSA ID “verification” process. You’ll send in paper copies of identification, and the email address on your account will be reset to an email address you can access. This process takes 7-10 days from the point at which you send in your documentation.

@@FederalStudentAid I haven't used this account since my first daughter went to college and the email account is no longer in existence. I can not log on and now my son is not going to be able to get parent plus loan - I have spent countless hours getting nowhere with 1800 4fed aid it is digusting

I don't know what's going on but we need help recovering his application asap. We have been having this problem for months now. His move in date is August 4th and we're still not able to get his fasfa corrected.

The FSA ID requires a SSN. You will have to mail us a paper signature page with your signature. Just select "Other options to sign and submit" when you get to the end of the FAFSA form.

JUST TELL US WHERE TO FIND THE NUMBER ONCE WE SIGN IN. I HAVE SPENT HOURS ON THIS AND CAN'T FIND MY NUMBER ANYWHERE!!!!

Changed password one day and I got in and then the next day it was telling me it was incorrect

The FSA ID site is a total dysfunctional disaster. I'm a parent seeking to verify income and tax info provided by my wife, only to be unable to login to and account that the site does not exist, but when attempting to create a new account it says my info is already in use. Repeated attempts to call the 1-800 number dont go anywhere. What a mess

My internet was working well the entire time i was on my computer prior to trying to make an account so i don't believe that was the issue when i tried to create my account and it literally took hours to load except it never did. i try to log in using a different window and it didn't work. i verified everything and even downloaded an authenticator app and none of it worked. you can't make such a sucky website when it's this important. this is really inconvenient and it's really frustrating. fix it!
