Troubleshooting & repairing ATV winch that doesn't work on Honda ESP Foreman 450

This is really a cool and very interesting episode! Join me and Pro Staffer Phil as we (read 'he') troubleshoot the ATV winch on the 1999 Honda Foreman 450 ATV That I just bought for Kapper Outdoors Project 291 (Btw if you are just hearing about Project 291 we are documenting the entire series on Kapper Outdoors 2.0 land management and excavation channel and it is a really great and interesting land investment/land management project!). So I just bought this new to me ATV yesterday and the owner told me that the winch was broken and quite working like last year some time. So I asked him what happened when it went out. He told me that it started acting strange and would kind of cut in and out before it finally went dead. So I bought the 99 Honda Foreman 450 used knowing that the winch did not work. I was able to get a few hundred bucks off the price, but not a ton since we are now in a post Co V i d world with massive inflation! Anyway, join us today in Pro Staffer Phil's shop as he is my number 1 go to guy when it comes to anything machine! So this video will take you through all of the steps that master Goat Phil took in troubleshooting the 'broken winch,' narrowing down to one of the components of the winch and doing a country boy/redneck shop repair to hopefully get this winch back up and running with NO new parts! Thanks for joining us today and if you'd like to join us on Project 291 over at Kapper Outdoors 2.0 here is the chanel link, we'd love to have you on board over there with all of our excellent adventures, and this land investment project!

Here is the description from Kapper Outdoors 2.0 and the reason that I just purchased the used/new to me Honda ATV:
This is all about equipment productivity! I just bought this used 1999 Honda Foreman 450, which is full time 4wd and has electronic transmission shifting. It is also set up nicely for what we need it for at Kapper Outdoors Project 291 as it has front and rear baskets already (saving some $$ right there because I'd have had to purchase them) so that we can haul 5 gallon diesel jugs and shuttle each other to various parts of this big property to reduce our machine down time. Prior to this we would either have to walk 3/4's of a mile to get to the areas that we are working on, or we would have to track the excavators back and fort at like 1.5 mph! So the trip in and out for all 3 of us (Me, Phil and Curtis) was costing us nearly an hour per day of lost time that could have been productive machine time for all of us! I specifically wanted a Honda because they are the only ATV with a real transmission, and for an old machine I figured that was my best option. There are a ton of used and old ATV's on the market, but I did not want to buy someone elses problems, headaches or lies about a beater ATV for this particular mission! Thanks for joining me today for this update and I hope that you will consider subscribing to follow along on this major land investment and land improvement project! Thank you!

If something is not working, you might as well take it apart and try to fix it, if it still won't work you are no worse off.
