I've played Nacatl War-Pride in my Trostani deck since its inception in 2014. It is bonkers and completely disregarded by the table until the madness happens.

You should deeefinitely do an Upping the Average on Greven, Predator Captain. Not only does it celebrate Magic's history, who doesn't love living life on the edge! 😄

Two cards I like in the deck are Seedborne Muse and Awakening. Being able to untap Trostani and populate on every player's turn seems good.

I love the addition of budget additions and high budget considerations the last few episodes. I would love to see Hofri or Orvar!

It really left me “discordant” .

Nactl War-Pride is one of my favorite underrated cards. It's a finisher in my Samut warrior tribal deck and can do some nutty things if you start populating copies of it

Trostani was my first Commander deck I ever made, and I was proud of it because it was unique. Tokens was my secondary theme for her while my priority was making it into a blinking deck so I could spam enter the battlefield effects. Many of the creatures I had had blinking effects and I would use them to blink each other infinitely to get lands, life, and tokens.

I love the inclusion of honorable mentions! I'm also excited for when you can tackle the 2021 Commander Precons!

Tried to get into magic a couple years ago but I didn't hit the spot for me, recently got nudged one of my friends to try out commander and I have fallen in LOVE with this game! & This is my first commander that I picked! I originally only wanted a deck that could gain me life but dealing with tokens this much has made me appreciate them more! Great advice as well! I'm about to make the final $$ upgrade and get Parallell Lives, Doubling Season, Aura Shards, & all the other top tier cards as well!

This has been so interesting! My #1 is Rubinia Soulsinger Bant Populate, which allows me to control opponent's creatures and copy them with Rites of Replication or Cackling Counterpart. Then do the Trostani or Selesnya Eulogist trick to get a ton of Archangels of Thune or Nyxbloom Ancients. Lifegain is incidental only, so that's a big difference.

wonder why Verdant Sun's Avatar didn't make it into the average list. it has the exact same lifegain ability as Trostani and can serve as a backup for when she's been removed

I liked a few of the adds, and agree with all of points you made about why you would take out cards/put in cards. One of the cards I took out was intangible virtue. Sure it pumps up your tokens but you really shouldn't need to. I like Cryptolith ruins better since it helps early mana issues. I hesitate to add in beast masters ascension, because yes it gives ALL your creatures +5/+5 and since you you generally go wide getting it online isn't to much of an issue, it just feels/plays out of place (helps you win faster if you are in the drivers seat, but does nothing to accelerate or recover). I would also like to point out that since this is an average, it is very easy to tune your deck more towards the life gain, or more towards the creature/populate. If you look to go into less life gain, an easy cut is aetherflux reservoir.

What are your guy's thoughts on Prava of the Steel Legion?? I think it's a solid card because it buffs your tokens and generates tokens itself.

Love me some Trostani! I want to revisit her with a bunch of these changes in mind. Righteous Valkyrie is so close to being hilarious in this deck but it’s hard to make a token copy of without say bramble sovereign in play first. Even without a token copy it’s still more lifegain for 3 mana.. and a nice anthem that should be easy to trigger..

I had a Discordant deck at one point that I disassembled a while ago. This seems really neat and I think I have a bunch of the cards for it already. I might have to put this together. Been looking for another Selesnya deck and I'm not really interested in rebuilding my old Discordant deck.

I really would want to see your take on breena, the demogogue because I don't know what direction I need to go with him.

Imo Ajani Goldmane is really good for Trostani Selesnyas voice decks. If you get the ult off you double your life every turn/for how ever many copies you can make, then have an army of tokens the size of your massive life total

I played Trostani until Lathiel was released, and I swapped over. No regrets! Trostani was fun but Lathiel can hit like a truck.

panharmonicon and scute swarm are a must in trostani.. primal vigor doubling season... at that point youre adding some dough but this deck gets out of hand 1000+ life in a single turn isnt off the table

Trostani wants all your manas, man, and she is very particular. 36 lands is still a little light--38 is ideal. Then I run Mirari's Wake, Zendikar Resurgent, and Regal Behemoth for doubling, plus Market Festival and Dawn's Reflection and few other land auras just for the fixing. Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage is at worst your back up plan once Tro gets too expensive to cast, and a powerful sidekick if you have them both out--and the mana. Tro's Summoner gives you a trampling rhino to copy, along with 2 other tokens for a total of 10 power, which is not insignificant. But I would cut the Summoner long before the Guildmage. Tro Discordant is for fending off all the creature theft decks, and should be backed up with Homeward Path. Crested Sunmare is really only good if you can make a token copy of it--say with the Bramble Sovereign or Mimic Vat, so no. N W-P is an all-star in Tro. Similarly, Myriad is amazing in a Trostani deck, especially the angel. Blade of Selves is generally better than Helm because the mana investment is lower overall and the best things to copy are non-legendary anyway--Avenger, Armada Wurm, Hornet Queen, Tro's Summoner, Wurmcoil Engine. And nothing feels more like Magical Christmasland than when you drop a Second Harvest before all those temporary tokens go away. It is possible to deck yourself with Elemental Bond. I have witnesses. It should be in every Trostani deck.

As someone who owns a Trostani deck, I don't really like Trudge Garden. You need to pay (2) to create a token. I'd rather run token creators that trigger because of gaining life. But hey, I guess you get a unique 4/4 token with trample.

Dang, still no Ghave, Guru of Spores? He really isn't high on your list of commander's I guess.

If your playgroup is ok with mass land destruction crusty sunmare a geddon or sandwurm cataclysm ate pretty silly

The only thing youve missed that makes this deck ungodly to deal with is Panharmonicon.. If a artifact or creature ETB causes a triggered effect of a perm you control it triggers an additional time..so double the life gain.. double the etb token abilityies.. its NASTY. played a game with my Trostani this weekend and had 2400 life with phyrexian processor and panharmonicon.. payed 35 life created a 35/35 gained double the life and populated the crap out of it
