Yeah uh Jon, I think the reason you were going so easily is because you set Base Happiness to 'Strong' rather than 'Weak' so everyone's just more happy by default and more likely to vote for you.

That would actually be wrong. In the game Caribbean happiness is a mechanic by which your own citizens compare themselves to see if they approve of you. When you check your citizens happiness, you will see two values, "Citizen Happiness" and "Caribbean Happiness", the comparison between these two will define the support your people have for you. The caribbean happiness value increases over time, thus making you have to increase your citizen happiness to compensate and make them support you. Thats why during the WW era theres a mission that decreases the overall caribbean happiness, it helps you gain support by contrast.

Well there might just be a bug or glitch with the difficulty setting. I prefer that as a working theory over "Jon is a genius at Tropico".

I am absolutely loving Tropico 6, so glad I was sent it to review. By far a return to the greatness the series is and the music just makes me want to go on holiday to get drunk in the sun and have fun with no kids 😂

fun fact you can unlock the golden laurels for el presidente if you cancel elections for 20 years.

I think you got it backwards. In election speeches, if you acknowledge an issue, that issue doesn't contribute to happiness when the voters are trying to figure out who to vote for...you're saying, "I know this is an issue, but please ignore it and vote for me anyway". So you want to acknowledge the lowest rated issue.

"That doesn't seem right.." rolled a map with similar settings, and I was swimming in dollah.. So guess the random map difficulty settings don't work properly, because it was significantly easier than any premade map.. :F

Some of that stuff seems like stuff imported from Tropico 4 (the speech-crafting definitely). Conversely, Tropico 4 does have a lot of "insert money, increase productivity." I'm really tempted to get T6, just because running a banana republic is something only that series does, and it looks like it hasn't been better.

Theres some oddities here and there but overall its a huge improvement from tropico 5 in subtle ways, they kind of add up over time little by little. I absolutely love it!

-Plays Trópico 5. Likes it. -Plays the sequel literally the next game. Seems Jon enough, yes.

@Tincho Sabala he prefaced his first tropico 5 video by pointing out 6 was just about to come out, and that’s why he was playing 5. he was always planning to immediately play 6 next regardless.

The newspaper options were in Tropico 4, glad they brought that back

This looks interesting I’ve played tropico 4 and 5 but not 6, and a lot of these “new” features are actually returning from tropico 4 (e.g. blueprints, variable strength of faction loyalty for individual citizens, citizens having actual money) Personally I preferred 4 to 5 in a lot of ways but 6 looks like it’s brought back the things I liked about 4 so I’ll definitely give it a look when the price comes down

Agreed with the others. I have both 5 and 6. 6 is definitely fun to play. But if money is tight, you should be able to get 5 for less money. And 5 is a very good game

Just checked steam. Here in the EU T6 is 50 euros. But you can pick up T5 for only 20 euro. That's a steal.

Even if you see 4 as DLC for 3 it is just more of an excellent game. 5 reduced the complexity and added stupid combat. 6 seems to merge the favored aspects of 3/4 and 5.

@Louisalex 98 ambiguity at its finest, where it’s impossible to tell if you’re (1) asking someone who makes money for his job off of livestreams to not make livestreams and therefore not make money, or (2) if you’re complaining mere hours after a livestream that there aren’t enough livestreams, or (3) you realize there was a tropico 5 livestream but don’t realize livestreams frequently go unlisted on KZread after completion until YT finishes processing them the moral of the story being: don’t leave cryptic ambiguous statements, because there’s no way to figure out what you meant
