Tropical Update: Broad low pressure in Gulf to send rain to Florida

WWL Louisiana meteorologist Payton Malone with his latest 'Eye on the Tropics' on News at Noon, Monday, June 10, 2024.
Development is not expected in the next seven days. This week, a broad low-pressure area in the Gulf of Mexico will likely send several inches of rain to parts of the Florida Peninsula. The system will fling moisture toward Florida, but not much toward us. Our rain totals may be as little as a half-inch or less through the upcoming weekend, while parts of the Florida Peninsula could get 5-10 inches.

I love how the rain evaporated before it made landfall on Pinellas this morning.
