Yep. Indianola was once a busier port than Galveston. But 2 hurricanes back to back destroyed it after being built back after the first. It was abandoned.

Worst thing a storm like this can do is to park over you. Florence did that in 2018. When it finally did move it left at slow speed up the drainage of all local rivers. The 36 inches of rain in 3 days did the damage on top of two weeks of rain runoff from all of eastern NC.

@chimchim2_ I'm ok with it. Better than the earthquakes and wildfires in California, snow and ice of northern states, hurricanes in Florida, tornados of the Midwest or severe heat of the desert. I'm sure there's other places in the US or in world better than Houston when it comes to weather. There's always a choice.

Living beneath a dam isn't smart to begin with. I wouldn't be there with the amount of rain that's coming

Not that big of a storm to even worries.

Could be worse, despite forecast storm tidal surges, the impacts from a Cat 1 is far less than might have been the case if it as a higher Category.

Be prepared.

Even tropical storms can do this, and as shown, it may turn into a cat 1 hurricane.

They will try to hype this storm up. We had worse wind a few months ago in downtown Houston.

Everyone is pronouncing it incorrectly. The mineral is pronounced like “barrel” and the NAME is pronounced “burl”

Texas got lucky, nothing compared to the Cat 5/4 that hit the Caribbean.

I wish this thing was coming to San Antonio instead of Houston, anything to get us a couple of days in the 80s and then another couple in the low 90s would have been great. Oh well, guess we owe you after you took Harvey from us.
