Tropic Falls at OWA | How we got kicked out

We drove from Destin Florida to Foley Alabama to spend the day at Tropic Falls at OWA / The Park at OWA. It was a very low crowd day and we were having a blast! We thoroughly enjoyed the rides and the amusement park portion of the park. We were most excited for the new indoor waterpark and headed there for the afternoon. We had a nice lunch, and the girls were having a blast trying out the new slides. At some point in the afternoon, I needed to take some medicine, so I went to our locker and took the pill with a neuriva energy shot that was in my bag. The girls and I headed back to the slides. Not long after Phillip was approached and told we had to leave immediately due to the fact that his wife was seen drinking fireball out of the locker. He had to come find us and we returned to a group of employees waiting. I showed them my bags where there was no alcohol, but they asked us to leave anyway since Phillip was upset. The Manager has since contacted us, apologized and offered us tickets to come back.

Really ugly video of us talking after getting kicked out 9:01 (I was too shocked to have the presence of mind or a phone to record when it happened. Also we only had to leave the waterpark.)

I worked here for one summer when we used to live in Foley. There were a lot of nice people. Unfortunately, probably due to the small local population, some of the supervisors were a little in over their heads. My supervisor was nice enough but was obviously a yes man which was bad enough, but also seemed to be poor at his job. Which is to say I'm not sure if he really knew anything about keeping a park clean. I was in park services, which cleans the park in many different ways. From pressure washing and changing street lights before park opening, to walking the park to pick up trash and cleaning restrooms during operating hours. I was disgusted that we were supposed to use a certain fluid to clean the bathrooms, including sinks, toilets and urinals. What fluid were we supposed to use? A food service degreaser designed to be sprayed on floors to eat the grease through an alkaline process. The reason we were using it to clean sinks? The park services manager liked the smell. We never properly sanitized any of these surfaces. I personally made sure to use other products to sanitize and no one ever got on to me over it, but everyone else just did as they were told. I was also never recognized in any way for knowing what I was actually doing. The point is, it's a nice little park but it's only as good as the people running it. Despite some really nice people that were doing the heavy lifting, the management at that time just didn't seem to always know what they were doing. No idea how it's going now and I only hope they've got the experience to run things right. I will say that they had someone with a lot of experience running the ride operations but I did not work for them. I have no doubt some of the people were good at their jobs. It just came off as a show up and work your shift and go home type of place without any real advancement or recognition of potential. I hope if Tana Cabana goes back some day, things have changed for the better. Foley is a great town and I'd love nothing more than to see Owa grow and be great.

Wow!! We've yet to go back - kinda mad at myself we didn't use our free tickets by the end of 2023. Maybe someday! It does seem to be a great park but definitely hit or miss on some of the employees!

I’m going next month so we’ll take the tickets! 😂 All jokes aside, I’m so sorry this happened to y’all. I understand the employees are keeping a watchful eye but you can’t just go around accusing & kicking people out of places without proof. The park looks super cool but I see we’ll have to watch our backs.

kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJqguKNqhLHOiKQ.html Getting "kicked out" means it was not your choice. If you could have stayed, you weren't actually kicked out. In this video you're just accusing somebody of doing something they didn't do. A big problem at this waterpark is people sneaking in booze. LOL. Keep it classy, Alabama. But something tells me we're not getting the full story here. Possibly Phil said quite a bit more than, "Hell, no?!"

Unfortunately I did not film the 15 people that stood guard while they watched us pack up and made us leave the water park. They did not make us leave the amusement park. We were ready to go at that point but tried to salvage the day for the kids. I have a full letter from the park director addressing it and inviting us back for free. Thank you for your concern that I am accusing the park of something they didn't do after they accused me of doing something I didn't do but that is not the case. Most amusement parks have bag check so they can avoid the issue all together.
